Heat Leak? wtf?!?

Ok -- here is the latest installment in the ongoing storybook of ailments and mazda diseases...

I leave the house around 10:00pm I drive for about 15-20 minutes. Park the car, meet with some friends... we decide to go driving... I get back into my car 10 minutes later (after parking) to find a film on the inside of my windshield. It is not moisture or 'fogging up' it is a thick film that literally has to be pressured off with a cloth! window cleaner doesnt even cut this stuff... lately with it getting cooler outside, the problem has been getting worse and worse, sometimes i come back to a completely funked windshield, other times it is just in small places... My guess is Radiator Steam... but what the hell, it only noticed this after I changed my heater-core to block coolant hose... everything is tight and there are NO coolant leaks.... what the heck is going on?

This problem is VERY irritating as it takes a good 5 minutes to get the Windshield to where i can see out...Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...
Oh yes, this in the 89 NA... thank you...

are you sure you are not leaking coolant inside the car? the end of the heater core is easy to break while pulling the old hose off.

If manual tranny check the rubber boot beneath the outside shift cover. Had same problem had to use ammonia at times to get the film off inside winshield and rear hatch window. Just as a coincidence found the inner boot rotted away, almost a jelly. Apparently the rubber was eaten away by a small seal leak in the shifter. Installed a new seal and problem went away. Did not make the connection at the time and still not certain how the two were connected (boot and windshield film). But the filming up went away.

stick your hands under the dash, check the carpet and everywhere down there for wet spots. the heater core is in behind the stereo.
