broke something

so yesterday i commenced pulling a s5 tii engine and tranny came out fairly ez. when we had them fully out i noticed i broke the tail section by the shifter on the tranny. yes the shifter was in and for very good reason. the sides of the car were so smashed in that the metal around the shifter was pushed in to far for me to get anything on the bolts and remove the shifter. so we pulled it any way broke it in the processes. my question is. can i use the tail section from my s4 n/a tranny on the tii s5. i know the gears are slightly different but thats all ahead of this area. anyone know if this can be done? this was the less smashed in side.

no, the tail sections are entirely different. Totally different transmissions. Sorry bro. If you need you can throw the na tranny on there as long as you use the clutch, pp and flywheel.

That's one hell of a engine hoist you got there. I am sure that's why it came out "fairly easy" : )

yeah best we could do with the location we had to do it in. so looks like im buying an s5 tranny. my s4 is a little beat up the shifter is real sloppy no idea how to fix it and i want the strength of the s5 tii one. also i don't want to buy a different drive shaft cause i pulled the rear end out also.

The sloppy shifter is most likely because of a lack of shifter bushings.

Plenty of people have bum trans so you could put up a WTB ad on the for sale section for turbo tail section.

Fudge, my S4tii trans has a busted tail section where the shifter goes in. I thought i could use parts off the S4 n/a trans but i guess not! FUDGE
