Talking Boom!!!!

I was on the way to work today and I was wanting to see if I could by chance leave two tire marks.

I was pushing about 10mph and reved the car up to 6000rpms and dumped the clutch in first gear.

well next thing I know there is a loud boom and the cover for the shifter goes into my lap and I see the shifter just kinda laying there limp. it is still in the thing that holds it in place but just kinda able to move around free

hard to explain but even with my car out of gear when my dad and I were pushing it he could feel something banging around and it was loud and nasty sounding....

oh well

I will have pictures when I get home
kinda funny but yet sad

78 celica need I say more

oh yeah guess I shoudl change the sig
tranny goign to hell to tranny that is in hell

If it helps, snuck the car out on the streets today for a little redlining and drifting. Blew a coolant hose off the block and dumped coolant in the driveway. Oh well, I'll be getting under the car this weekend anyway to put that damnable racepipe on.

speaking of coolant in driveway, it was funny watching my friend change the oil in his GFs taurus a week ago.

Turbo II tranny
that way, you can work on blowing your engine, for an excuse to do a Turbo II swap.
get the differential and drive shaft while you're at it

here are the pictures
any hope for the tranny you think?
the pice that holds the shifter in place is moving around and it looks like the nose piece that comes off the tranny is moving also

i'd be willing to bet that you sheared off the driveline right at the u-joint,wich is right underneath the shifter housing, and, the driveshaft spinni'n around cracked your shifter housing.might explain all that noise... .this happend to me,exept when it let go,i was easing it into reverse after a pretty hard run.imagine what could have happend if it went at 70mph!!.one off the "lobes"off the ujoint had a old fracture in it,wich had finnaly given up.you guys might wanna inspect the u joint area on the driveline real close, from time to time.if this is what happend to you,you might be able to just buy another shifterhousing, and replace any linkage parts that busted.my tranny was on its last leg anyways,so i just got one from a wreckingyard for $175.-,i think.and,of course, you would be buying another driveshaft....
