I was on the freeway on 2nd gear shifting to 3rd gear and I heard a grind so I dropped to neutral and shifted to 3rd again and it grinsed again and again so I exit the freeway shifting to 4th and boom the shiftknob is stuck in 4th and I cannot move it at all. Any suggestion the car will stall if I let go of the clutch and the shifter is extremely stiff

 

the n/a transmissions have a tendency to get stuck between gears and lock up, there's some tricks to free it up but i don't recall the thread i saw outlining it.

 

Okay thanks liger but my car is a 1994 tt rx7 it's not a na transmission

 

I know you're new, so I'll refresh the information that was in all the threads you were required to read when you signed up. You must post what series car we are dealing with in your titles and/or thread body. We have no clue what you drive, and with dozens of years and 3 generations of RX7's it's anyone's guess.

 

disassemble the shifter and see if anything in there is binding up then.

 

Call a tow truck. You need a new transmission. Other than a 5th gear synchro in the early FDs, that transmission is usually pretty robust. If it's not extremely high mileage it suggests some history of abuse.
