Yeah so we all know the sound. Goes off (or is supposed to) when you leave your lights on, etc.

Lately mine has been going off for apparently no reason. It stops if I turn the lights on, starts again if I turn them off. Seems like it may stop after the car warms up, not quite sure.

Now I know the electrical system is known to be wacky, is it just being 18 years old, or is something actually wrong?

I think I'm missing that beeping noise...I've never actually had one that happened in my car (which might be the reason why I keep locking my keys inside my car, good thing my house key unlocks any RX-7's doors that I've owned so far.)

Oh well, time to go check fuses lol...

Are you sure it's not a power steering issue? Check the FAQ for the PS error beeps.

Check the headlight switch connector. Look for clean shinny bright contacts. They can corrode and scorch as they age.

Check the CPU (by the driver’s left ankle). Remove it, slide the PCB out & check the solder connections where the plugs meet the PCB. The connector pins can crack loose from the solder. When those connector pin joints are re-soldered, many electrical problems go away.
You’re not alone. There are may threads on “cold solder joints”
