3 beeps

I did a search on what might be causing the beeping sound in my friends 87 t2 but it all refers to the 5 beep power steering ECU threads.. The problem with the car is, that it beeps 3 times, pauses for a second and repeats when i have the ignition to the ON postion as well as when we are driving it. The power steering has been removed but like i said before, it doesn have the 5 beeps.
I need help cause it is driving my friend and I crazy!

3 beeps could still be the ps ecu. unplug it to be sure. under the d side dash, left side, by the hood latch, small box with a large gang plug going into it.

I'd consider removing the Steering Wheel and giving Itthe base and Column a wipe. In other words, the attaching points of the two. I had the same problem and this was the direct problem. Beeps stopped after that.

ok so no matter how many beeps there are I.E. 3 or 5, it is still going to be related to the power steering?

i never thought about it. mine beeps, seemingly randomly when i open the door sometimes. as soon as i sit down and close the door it stops. i was guessing it was pissed because the automatic lock is f'ing up. or its being a little whiny bitch.............
