20B Air inlet Temp Sensor

One of the terminals on my 20B Inlet air temp sensor has broken off and I cannot find another one around. Would I be able to use one from an FD 13B engine or anything else come to that with a two wire set-up?

Cheers
Lee

Shouldn't really mater Lee since your running an after market ECU, failing that measure the resistance across your 20b and compare it to the likes of an fd3s air intake temp sensor.

20B is the same as the FC.

Swapping to an FD sensor depends on your ECU

I am running a an LTX-12.
On that note I have a thread in the ECU section and have mailed microtech about the pinout details for the wires that go to the Map sensor. Don't suppose either of you guy's know the answer a I have had no joy yet?

Cheers

Microtech needs to be calibrated specifically for the FD sensor, it is not user definable. Pinout does not have anything to do with it, both are 2 wire non-polarized, it is the way the ECU extrapolates the signal of the 5v sensor.

Okay so I will try and get hold of an fc one.
Not following you on the Map sensor wiring though? My GM type sensor is three wire. The loom section that comes with the LTX-12 has three wires for the map sensor. Red, green and black. Then there is another little square plug which I am told might be for a wideband to be connected to? I have the pin out for the gm sensor and a plug for it but need to know what the corresponding wires are on the ECU loom. The plug tail I have has red, black and white wires but I don't want to assume black and red are common?

thanks

I did not respond to your map sensor question since the Microtech map sensor is internal

When you say internal map sensor do you mean the pressure pipe connects direct to the ECU? If so then mine is not like this? It is running off an external 3bar GM map sensor. No where to put a pipe direct to the ECU?

Take a look at this picture (generic one I got from google images):

See the little nipple sticking out in between the two input connectors? That is the MAP sensor port. If your ECU does not have this, it is either broken or some custom thing we have never heard of, which you would have to contact MT about.

I believe there was a 3bar upgraded version you could opt for which I assume this is!

That must be some old unit. Microtech does not have supporting documents for it, even the diagrams for the LTX-12 (Toyota and Nissan) have internal sensors. I can't say I have ever seen a Microtech with an external sensor until now.

The 3, 4 & 5 bar upgrades for the current line are all internal sensors.

The LT-9C has user definable internal 1, 2.5, 3 & 4 bar sensors built in.

^ I have never seen one like that either. The LTX12 looked just like the 12s. As he said, the upgraded sensors were just a higher range internal sensor. You really need to get in contact with Microtech or whoever the original purchaser of that ECU was to get all the info. If they got a custom map sensor, they could also have used non-stock sensor curves for any of the other sensors as well. For example, my LTX12s uses a GM IAT and coolant sensor because the guy I got it from ordered it that way.

Have e-mailed Microtech 3 times and got no reply.

This was all running on the engine and set-up I have so hopefully no issues with other sensors.

Just the plug was all hashed up and busted and now I need to rewire it!

Sure hope they can help!

I think you can be pretty certain that if you only have those 3 wires to deal with, red is power, black is ground, and green is the signal. Those are fairly universal colors. If you are not comfortable with that, look up the output curve for the GM MAP sensor, and find out what pressure corresponds to an easy to produce voltage, like 1.5 or 3 volts. Then you can use a AA battery (1.5 volt), turn on the MT, and apply that voltage across the green and black wires, and make sure it reads the correct pressure.

Where you able to resolve your issues with the Mtech? Quite alarming that they never replied to you about the MAP sensor wiring.

Hi There,
It is not yet resolved. but I think I can sort this when I connect the battery by simply looking for a 5v output and continuity to earth.
I am not overly impressed by the customer services! Still nothing. I have spoken with a few people that have had similar experiences.
Worse yet I might need to get a dongle for it so I cannot wait to see how that works out for me!

wwrturbo.com should have the dongles in stock.

When you're tired of the MT and ready to upgrade, let me know.
