20B Oil Flow

Hi Guy's Can anyone tell me which way the oil flows on a 20B. Does it go pickup pipe - pump - out of front housing - oil coolers - filter and so on or is it pickup pipe - filter- out to oil coolers - back in front housing.

I was keying mine over to try and get some oil pressure up the other day and after about 30 I had nothing and lines to the cooler seemed dry. I thought maybe I need to try and prime the pump with some oil manually to encourage it to draw better. So if I know where to put oil in so I can draw it backwards or forwards through the pump that would be a great help.

Anyone else got any tips? I am not too keen starting it with out any sign of oil on the move around the motor!

Cheers
Lee

I believe it goes like this:

Oil Pan > Pickup tube > Oil pump > Oil Coolers > Oil filter > Engine/turbo > Oil Pan

Rotary engine lubrication system Seems to agree.

Hope that helps.

If you have had this engine pulled down (pump off) was it packed with white petroleum?
If your still having no luck building pressure prime the pump off the oil cooler hose on the front cover.

Cheers Guy's,
Cool. So pipe out of the front cover is coming straight out of the pump essentially. which is what I was hoping.
My intention was to do exactly that. Fill up the pipe with oil and turn the engine backwards a bit to draw some oil into the pump.

It has not been fully torn down but it has been drained down for quite some time.

I am not sure how long you need to crank to get oil going normally. I remember from other engines sometimes it takes a while but I hate the thought of cranking too long even with some residual oil around the engine!

Thank you
