got it running! SA WEEEEET, huge exhaust leak though. so i took the turbo back off (50th time) and added some high heat rtv to the gaskets and spacer. hopefully this will take care of that. otherwise i think it's almost ready to hit the streets!

 

Congrats, 50 hrs of pain is gone in a 1hr drive in my book

hahahahahha, yea havent had a chance to drive it yet, hopefully tomorrow. i want the rtv to seal up good before i fire it up again. i'm hoping for the best. each time i look at her though, i still get happy and remember that it's all worth it.

wow, actually i would also rock a pb&j sticker WOOOO! well today i will be trying to fire it up again. hopefully the hesitation i was getting was because of the severe exhaust leak. it felt like it didn't want to rev. :/ but it idled beautifully. weird. i'm celebrating my 22nd birthday today with my parents so when i return, it's RX7 TIME! YIPEEEEEE! i hope to get it on the road today.

hahahaaha, thanks rob! this is quite crazy. i'm trying to BEND my exhaust just a tad more so it will not hang too low and then i will take it on the road! AHHHHH, i cant figure out a way to bend it though! GRRRRRRR any ideas???

 

Which way you need to bend it? Just up? Warm up the car, thatll make the exhaust easier to bend. Then put a jack under the exh and jack it up to bend it. Just be careful not to crush any pipes.

yea carl, i actually do need to bend it up. only thing is though i already took it off. i'm trying to think of a way that i can bend it so it's perfect under there and the hangar won't do so much stressing. if i bend it with it still on the car it wont go enough. and the hangar will always have that load on it. i dunno, i might just do that.

 

How low is it hanging? I dont know if you have a welder available but you could make a angled cut through the pipe do a 180 with one of the cut off parts and weld it back. That will change the angle and not kill the diameter of the pipe.

ok, i fixed the exhaust and the exhaust leak from a few days ago. cranked right up. HOLY CRAP! sounds sooooooo AWESOME!!!!!!! i'm already glad to be turbo just for the amazing exhaust note! it's SOOOO DEEP AND THICK! YESSSSSSS i think i am losing a little bit of oil from the return line because it's smoking around the turbo a tiny bit. if i can get this underway then i'm taking it out tonight.

ok, problem #1; CAR WONT MAKE BOOST it's weird. i'm still checking on fuel and all. it kinda sounds like it's starving? i dunno. it's weird. BUT GOD IT SOUNDS SO GOOD GOING DOWN THE ROAD! HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA and throttle response is still really nice.

any ideas guys? i'm going to maybe try a different spot for the rrfpr boost/vaccum source. and i have a kink in the line that i need to undo. any other ideas? who has had this happen?

 

ok, i think the fuel problem had to do with the kink in the line. even at idle the fuel pressure was pulsating. so when i was also in just neutral if i revved past 3,000rpms it would stutter. woooo, later on today when i wake up i will take it back out on the road and see how she does. hopefully i will hit boost! then we'll see how true the boost prepped sterling nikki IS!!! AAAAAHHHHH MUHUHUHAHAHHAAAAAAA!!!!!!!

 

Zac, turn on your damn PM's! Where are you running your fuel return from? Not from the carb's stock return fitting I hope. You did notice it came back without a fitting. Thats cause I blocked it. I will send the parts to make it operable if you need it. lemme know!

Hey, I'm not taking you for a fool. There are alot of bugs to work out when your putting a turbo kit on. Hell, Im still working on mine. I keep having float issues, that will end next week. Should have a nitrophly float for the IDA
You say its not making boost, or as boost starts the engine is having a fit? Mine was backfiring and stumbling as the boost came on. Then the float sank, almost had it. Good luck and hopefully you will work it out.
