Inittab turned all the PM's back on this morning (after I posted of course). In case you arent keeping score, they were all turned off after the upgrade.

Was just checking on the return. The thought hit me this morning before work and I wanted to make sure you werent gonna have a problem with it.

Get-er-dun!

uncontrollable fuel pressure can only be caused by a bad fpr or a clogged return line

definitely. :/ i doubt the regulator is bad. because as soon as i turn the fuel pump on it goes to just under 3psi with the spring removed. like it's supposed to, then it launches to 9. :/

To clean the line,

Disconnect it from the tank. Plug the end. Spray carb cleaner in at the engine side and let it sit for a while. Empty the line and do again. Then flush the line with Air pressure. If you think the problem is in the tank then do it with it connected to the tank. Take off the cap before adding the air pressure, You should hear bubbles in the tank. Might want to drain the tank when done.

ok, i blew 120psi of air thru that damn return line. it shot gas out of the filler neck!! HAHAH, guess what though :'( nothing changed with fuel pressure. AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! this sux. what's weird though, is the car will crank and idle beautifully at 8 psi of fuel pressure!!!! ???????

oh yea, and my car refuses to rev past 3,000 rpms whether in neutral or in gear driving. weird eh??? is this from the too much fuel pressure? or is my gauge just wack and this is a totally different problem???? the gauge was very accurate with my old setup. hmmm

Maybe the pump pressure is just too high for the reg to control? Im not at all familiar with this pump or reg so Im just shooting in the dark.

What happens if you disconnect the ref line and let it idle? That should be ok to do right? Just to be sure that the ref line isint causing your problems.

You could have a clog near the tank.

I know your probably tired of dropping money into the pit. Course I'm just a cheap *** and thats what I feel mine is, that will change when I finally get to feel the boost. But you could order from summit aluminum lines 25ft coil for $19.99 3/8 inch, should be enough to do in and out. Could go a little bigger and 1/2" is $4 more. I think 3/8th's will do the trick. I would consider tring somplace other than summit they charge a pretty unreasonable handling charge specially for one item Then shipping charge

So is it the stock restrictor causing the problem? Or have you already removed it? I have a roll of AL fuel line I was gonna use, but changed my mind. Ill have to dig it out to check the size though. Fire sale price for you. Like $5+ shipping? Maybe less if Im in a good mood.

It's not a restrictor. It's a check valve.
The restrictor is a tiny orifice in the in-line/return-line banjo pipe-bolt that holds the whole assembly together, and in the absence of a true regulator on the stock set-up, this restrictor orifice serves to "bleed-off" some fuel pressure supplied by the feeble stock pump, keeping it somewhere down around 4 psi.

Zac, how's your tank ventilation system? Even with the relatively low pressures of an NA set-up, a tank that can't breathe can wreak havoc. I imagine it's compounded exponentially when you have a rising fuel pressure.

FBII how are the rubber hoses under the car near the tank? Any kinks? I had a different problem on an 80 that one of the hoses in the back was causing. It's just one of those spots that might have gotten neglected.

Hey Sterling, Dont take this the wrong way, just laugh at it. I was reading your location under the avatar. How does that work with the same sex marrages in San Fran? Then again that could go both ways

-It specifically says "wife", so you don't have to worry about me with your husband, seanrot.

...That's the best I can come back with.
(Damnit. Now I gotta change that thing. )

fug!!! i just got off work! i'm not really sure where to start with this. do you think i can unclog the line? i sprayed carb cleaner in it and after about 10 seconds of spraying it backs up and sprays out where i'm spraying in! make sense? it's definitely clogged near the firewall or so.
