Is MTheory still selling rack and pinion kits?

I have one on my car. Was talking to someone at a car show yesterday very interested in the idea and had not heard of MTheory's offerings. However I no longer see his rack and pinions on Ebay. He stopped making them? If not, I have a customer for him!

I wish I knew.

When MTheory introduced the kit, as most here we were interested. Although I lacked the funds to purchase at the time. Since then the price had gone up to $3000 and when I reached out last year he was backlogged. I was assured that he was in it for the long haul but about last March he said he was stepping back "temporarily". I have not seen or heard anything since then. Some of which I've been fine with as I have been hemorrhaging money for the last year.

If Mtheory is out of the game, it would be nice to be able to purchase the build sheet and schematics. But there is some real R&D that MTheory has invested, so I understand that he may not want that information free range.

Just heard back from him via email. He has stopped production as actual real job has him too busy. He ‘may’ be open to building here and there if approached directly.

The price when available was high. But honestly worth every penny. Completely woke up my car, and the design, fit and customer support were top notch.

I had a feeling availability would not last forever, so grabbed one whilst I could.

Original from the front all the way back to the back end of the doors. Roof and rear repainted as rust has gotten into the roof panel and the hatch gutters. It’s a sweet spot right now…. Taking it to the Japanese Classic Car Show this weekend. Took the car two years ago as a ‘survivor’ and his behind its untouched ratty-ness. This year I am taking it as a restored car on which I am proud of my work. All down to you guys on this forum.

Well that's lame . I was slowly saving up for one.

I hope he releases the schematics so we can at least fab one ourselves if he himself has no interest in ever making them ever again.

Small chance but I may eventually build them. I won't be surprised if they show up again from someone.

Hi:

How can I get in touch with MTheoryInc? There doesn't seem to be a way to PM him. I see he was on the site today. Please advise.

Thanks!

I was able to get in touch with him via PM.

Here is the reply he gave me for the rest of the thread.

Just started production again this month. It’s not full time and I’m working through a pretty big wait list so no eta yet.
Complete kit bolts in with no permanent modifications to the Rx7. It will modernize car without losing its charm.

Thumbs up Easy DIY Option on YouTube

Does anyone know if this guy is on the forum?

This is the route I'm looking to take. Instead of using the non-power column and shaving to 17mm DD as shown in the videos below, I'm going to put my power steering column back in- just need to identify spline size and order appropriate u-joint.

I’d feel better if there was a finished video.

Hi everyone. I wanted to report that I spoke to MTheoryInc and he is fabricating kits again and is working on a batch for June, 2024 delivery so if you are interested in getting one I suggest you reach out to him. I have one on order to solve my problem. Can't wait to start enjoying my RX7 again!

MTheory Rack & Pinion Kit

Hi Nshimmy:

I just received a message from him 2 days ago with a picture of my almost completed kit so I would keep trying. Are you sure you have the right phone #? If you PM me your phone # I'd be happy to forward it to him and tell him that you're interested (protecting his privacy in case he doesn't want it out in public). I've attached a copy of the photo he sent me. I'm very excited to install it and feel the difference!

Good luck and best regards!

The older you get in life convenience starts to take precedence. I offer convenience with the fact that you're getting something that's been proven to be a safe, simple and effective solution for the SA/FB Rx7. If you think this is some get rich quick deal you're sadly mistaken, I've never taken one deposit either. I have a successful career in fabrication and 45 year old Rx7 parts are not that. Anyone truly interested email me at mtheoryinc@yahoo.com -Scott

What does this do to bumpsteer?

The inner tie rod pivot really needs to go under the engine at full left lock if the tie rods are long enough. This is why the 1st gen has recirc ball steering and the 2nd gen has a front mounted rack, and handling-killing short control arms.

A better setup would be a rack with a center takeoff and a dummy center link. I installed a setup like that out of Australia into a '70 Ford and the steering was wonderful.
