manual rack

There was a company that use to make a manual rack set up for the 1st gen and i can't remember the name. It's not RE speed by the way. The rack mounted behind/under the engine instead of in front. It bolted to the stock subframe and body.

The rack came out of a VW i believe. Does anyone have any pics or info on this?

What I really need to know is what year, make, and model the rack originally came out of. I'm doing a custom set up and I am in need of this rack.

Like he said, the company was CP Racing, and it used an ~81 VW Rabbit rack. There was a member on here who made his own setup that used a 87 Jetta rack, so that's another option.

Is there a reason why your choosing the dodge omni rack over the VW racks?

i did alot of reading on the grassroots website, this thread in particular Best Manual Steering Rack (Junkyard): Grassroots Motorsports forum: Classic Motorsports and did some research of my own and decided the omni rack would be a good choice. the 80 year is 42 inches end to end and has 5in of steering travel. ive read that it is 3.5 turns lock to lock but am not quite sure on that yet. I hope it works out for me though cause i just spent 215 on the brand new rack.
