i put an msd box on my 79 with two blasters. It definately made a difference. i can only say for msd because i have never used accel. but if you choose msd be sure to find a place to mount the coils upright and the shorter your plug wires, the better. a few people have told me that they work better mounted upright. and if you have a 79 you need to swap your distributer for an 80-85, electronic son...

No MSD boxen...

I only ask because I have two Accel yellow coils and two MSD red Blaster coils laying about.

Rules for Spec7 say any coil that fits in the stock location can be used.

I had an Accel go out on me so I threw the stock one back in. Now I have an Accel and a stock Diamond. Go MSD.

Oh Pele,

Do you think your picking up Dan's car or not?

and...

are you available anytime this weekend to try to get that megasquirt in. Sunday if possible. I am considering going to the JMU car show next weekend and seeing how she does on the dyno.

the stock diamond coils is more than adequate in my opinion. it can handle DLIDFS or MSD 6A/AL with no problem.

The only replacement coils that I have used that don't have the standard voltage fall off after a certain RPM have been the Jacobs.

Damn straight! I built a setup on my 1st gen for the Megasquirt that uses 4 trailing coils running off of VB321's for ignitors. Aftermarket coils have nothing on those.

I'm a grand and some change poorer as of last night and in need of an engine.

BTW, someone might be buying Craig's 83LE... That 13B might not be available.

Not this weekend. Gimmie a call next week. We can work out schedules and perhaps engine deals.

BTW, where do you think I got the MSD blaster coils.

use your MSD ones. i agree that they don't have anything on good stock coils, but since you already have them ...

I'd go with 2nd gen coils as well since the Blaster coils are actually meant for the domestic cars and it limits high rev capabilities.

i have used accell for 1year they seem to do there job no problem.
but they need to be mounted verticaly since they are oil filled.
if mounted in stock form they will eventually leak and stop workin as well as swell up one of you ignition wires.

but they do work good
