Interior project
I'm planning to replace my shift ****, shift boot, and hand brake boot. What set-ups have you guys gone with on your sa/fb? Post some pictures of how youve customized your interior.

Dude, that chrome carpet is DA BOMB! Seriously, though - I did the same with Dynamat on my SE and it made a ton of difference in interior noise reduction.
As to the shift boot - like you, I went with a leather replacement, and decided that I wanted it to look stock so I took a tiny drill bit and made holes in the underside edge of the plastic surround just big enough for heavy staples to fit through. Pushed the staples through the leather from the inside out to match with the holes, and then bent the staples over to hold the leather tight around the inside edge. Maybe 10-12 staples around the circumference hold it in place, and the leather makes a nice mated edge with the surround instead of flopping around inside. Oh, that's another thing for sound deadening; buying and installing the 3 rubber boots around the shifter made a HUGE difference in interior noise reduction, too. I think a lot of sound from the engine and exhaust gets reflected off the ground and right up through the transmission tunnel. Rubber boots on the shifter help to dampen that along with transmission vibration noise.

I’m guessing stock that have been redone years ago. The previous owner did a lot of work to it, what I have been told it won best in show around 2003, at a northwest Rx7 meet up. The paint is showing it’s age though.

Wow thats an awesome story and a really clean car! I decided that I'll be getting some black leather boots with white stitching for the shift **** and brake from redline goods. Im also trying to find a white ball style shift **** with black lettering, does anyone have any suggestion of a good **** for a fair price? Im hoping it can be a little heavier than the stock one.

Man those are some damn good looking interiors! I think I will stick with solid leather to match the rest of the interior for the boots, but what steering wheel is that? I love the size of it.

I'd love to get an OE steering wheel that's been modified to be a deep dish style, that way I can have the classic look, and the when can clear my knees.
What seats do you have?

They sit well in there. How do you find the height of the seat compared to the standard RX7 ones? I'm looking for an upgrade but I already have to use a smaller deep steering wheel to get leg clearance.

Driver side is identical to stock, near as I can recall (am 6'1"). Passenger will sit a bit higher because its base's profile is flat, unlike the SA pass seat, which the frame is "lower" on the inside to allow for the floor hump the exhaust runs under. So bit of a pinch for passengers. Seats are a bit wider (good!) but do nestle in nicely. Need seat adapter frames to make it work, but doable. Drop me a note if you decide to go this route, I have a write up (Archived here somewhere...)

Did you stitch the steering wheel Stu? Looks awesome. I ordered the shift boot since the FB has the cheesy rubber boot. I think that looks really classy.

I had the wheel professional leather-wrapped:
https://craftcustoms.com/leather-steering-wheels/
I recall it was about $300. Sounds pricey, but reminder that -IF one could ever find one- a new old stock Factory leather steering wheel sold for $900.
!
It is a perfect match to the factory stitching and needless to say , feels glorious to hold on to. No regrets...
Yeah the leather-shift boot swap will be great on an FB. Why they cheapened the look with rubber gaiters is beyond lame. You will love it.
