Inner and Outer Tie Rods

Hey guys I'm a little confused.

I'm going to be upgrading my steering a little bit. I wanted to get the moog idler arm and also new tie rods.

When I look on rockauto's site they have inner and outer tie rods ends. Do I need one of each? Is it just different threading that makes the difference or am I missing something.

I also saw MOOG Part # ES2355 Frt Strg; Outer they had a manufacturer close out for 11.61 verse the regular one for 21. Can anyone please elaborate on the difference

There are inner and outer tie rods. You will need 2 of each to do both sides.

I would also get 2 Tie Rod End Adjusting Sleeves and a new Pitman Arm. That would get you basically all new.

I got my first box in today (ball joints) rebuilding my front end.
My shopping list was: All Moog except ball joints
2 Tie Rod Center studs (not sure i needed thsi but better safe than sorry)
2 Ball Joints
2 Inner
2 outer (i got the close outs)
Camber wedge kit
2 tie rod adjustments sleeves
Pitman arm
Idler arm
$355 Total shipped.
This along with the full bushing kit from Respeed should have this thing nice and tight.
Now to get it all on the SA

Can you give me a list with part numbers? Where did you order all of these parts from?

I looked up on RockAuto and was making my own shopping list.

Idler Arm = MOOG Part # K9369 $58.89
Pitman Arm = MOOG Part # K9142 $44.79
2 Front Outer Tie Rod End = MOOG Part # ES2355 - Wholesale Closeout Private Label Pkg $11.61 / Regular $21.79
2 Front Inner Tie Rod End = MOOG Part # ES2192R $21.99

Total is either 173.88 with the wholesale outer tie rods or with 194.24 the normal priced one, before taxes and shipping.

How many tie rod center adjuster or end adjuster do I need, or do I actually need them?

I can still use all of these parts wit the respeed rack n pinion?

I do not think you need the bulk of these parts for the ReSpeed set up. New ball joints would be nice but the rest would likely not be nedded. I would talk to Billy before i bought anything if you are going R and Pinion. If i had a few more buck i would put that on my car... the kit is more than I paid for my SA so ... I will need to hiold off.

For the ReSpeed R/P conversion you'll only be able to reuse the outer tie rods, and that's it. If you plan to go the ReSpeed way, hold off on your replacements.

Don't get the pitman arm they don't really go bad. Get Moog Idler, and Sankei Tie Rod Ends...That said I have a spare Moog pitman that I'll give to you if you want, you're in the bay area so you cant be too far from me...
