Engine bay questions
This is a 1985 GS
For this first thing, I looked around in the Haynes manual and the forums, but since I don't even know what to call it, having kind of a hard time seeing what it is. I'm trying to adjust my carb and it's in the way. Looking at other engine bays, I do not see it in the same location. It is not specifically secured to anything by the bracket it is attached to, but does have what looks like a vacuum line on the bottom of it that is keeping it mostly in place.
For the second thing, I found that my coolant reservoir/overflow was not hooked up properly. The container was not on the hook in the engine bay, so I fixed that, and I put the hose to the port at the radiator cap. My question about this is, with it not plugged in when the car was running, do I have issues with air in the coolant now? How can I check that? Also, the cap on the container does not want to close properly, so I haven't tried forcing it because I don't want anything to break. What are the steps I should take with what I currently have there? Which antifreeze should I get to put in the system?
I've read about adjusting the carb and need to buy a long reach screwdriver to get easier access. I also still have the rat's nest in the car, so I know that can complicate things. Any suggestions to consider while working on the idle, suggest away.

Slowly getting there...

The black plastic pod in your square is the purge valve. When it gets the right vacuum signal from the carb, it let's the intake suck the fumes out of the engine and the charcoal can.
The idle adjust screw is this long barrel-ish silver screw near the bottom of the carb...
this carb is partly disassembled but this is what your looking for. Once you find it you can easily reach it with a longish screwdriver.

Thanks for the info. Should that purge valve be where it is in my engine bay? If it's working right, no reason to mess with it for now, I guess. I was able to locate the idle screw, just the screwdriver I have now isn't long enough. Thanks for the better picture of it you provided.

You can unbolt the mounting bracket for the purge valve and move it out of the way while you adjust the carb if you wish. Are you attempting to adjust the mixture or the idle speed? The mixture screw has a tamperproof cap on it that is difficult to remove with the carburetor in place.

The purge value isn't attached to anything currently, so it can be moved, I just wanted to make sure that it was fine where it is. I'll be adjusting both screws if needed. It looks like the tamperproof cap is long gone, so no problems there. The idle is around 2,500 right now, so I know something is up. I'm hoping it's not a vacuum issue, as I had it in a shop to do a lot of the "getting it up and running" work. I know the idle should probably be working, but I'm not sure if it's the difference from being in Missouri to being in Florida. (Probably not for something that off)

So I guess I have a vacuum leak somewhere as it doesn't seem to matter what i do with the idle screw. Looking through some of the forum posts I've found, this seems to be a semi daunting task. Any suggestions at things to look at? I know the systems can be very complex and that removing stuff like the rat's nest can help, but I don't think I'm up for that at this step.
