carb question

I don't have the diagram in front of me right now, but I'll try and describe it. On the drivers side of the carb, right below the electic coupler on the top middle, there is a small air nozzle. I see on some of the old diagrams they show this with a vacuum line, and my spare carb has one attached that is about 2 or 3 feet long. I'm wondering if this should be hooked up somewhere. Its about 1/4 or 1/2 inch diameter, and the inside hole is almost pin sized.

A superlong hose should go to either the ditributer, or the oil filler neck.
The pin-hole inside siameter has me stumped, though.

More details about exactly where on the carb? What's the piec that the nipple for the hose attached to; the carb main body, or the spacer block?
Are there two hoses running to the pots on the distributer? What about the oil filler spout (That one's kinda big)?

I'm pretty sure I know what you're talking about, assuming I'm understanding you correctly regarding the location of this thing.

I think it's called the air vent solenoid valve. It has a long hose connected to it which runs to the rats nest and somehow hooks into the crankcase ventilation system as I understand it. It has to do with venting the gas fumes inside the carb after you shut the engine off.

Don't cap this off. I just left mine open since I don't have the rats nests anymore.

I hope I'm actually understanding what you mean, sorry if I'm telling you the wrong thing. This is all from memory and my Haynes manual, as my car is in storage and I can't go outside and check!

Here's a good way to tell if it's the thing I'm talking about:

Is it quite close to, slightly below and to the left of the left-most fuel line inlet on the carb? If it is, then that's the one I'm thinking of.

Also, the hose should be of a relatively large diameter, compared to the normal small vacuum lines coming from the base of the carb.
