Custom Supercharger setup

Allright, about a year or so ago someone posted a thread about putting a supercharger off of a bonneville on thier FB. Well my parents have had a supercharged bonneville for years, and im been wating for the thing to kick it. She finally did. Now i cant find the thread about it. If anyone can find it thatd be great, if not if anyone can help me figure out how to set this up. 84 -SE with a large streetport.

Put your flame suit on. You know how closed minded people are here when it comes to superchargers. You don't want someone to come on here and tell you that you shouldn't be tackling a supercharger project if you can't even figure out how to initially set it up so expect someone to give you that comment too. Every product ultimately started with a plan and then a design study so don't be discouraged.

Is it an M62 or an M90 supercharger? If it's an M62, just pass on it. You'll make more low end power but it will run out of capacity really quickly. The M90 can be made to give you about 250 hp or so if done properly. We have yet to see a single supercharger kit done properly here though which is why we've never seen that number before. Your best bet is to just get creative. Stare at it for a while and try to figure out how you think it would make sense. If you want to make it work, you'll find a way. It's actually not that hard to layout. Getting the pieces fabbed up may be easy or hard depending on your skill level and connnections.

im not sure which supercharger is it, its on a 92 bonneville ssei. I think im gonna pull the turbo off and just track where everything on it is hooked up to on the bonneville, and find a way to hook it up to the corresponding part on the se. hardest part will be finding a place for mounting.

a supercharger would be a blast, i know that its not hard to supercharge a carb.

have you thought going the carb / supercharger route?

it would simplify things greatly if you know your way around carbs.

you're pulling a turbo to go s/c? interesting...that means you'll have a turbo that need a good home, right?

well that was some good info. I think i have an idea for its setup, only problem i can think of will be room. if i take my upper intake manifold and the runners to the lower intake manifold off, make an adapter from the outlet of the M62 supercharger so it can mount right to the LIM. The inlet on the m62 is at the rear so i will have to run the outlet of the UIM to that somehow. I will need to increase the size of the pulley on the M62 to like a 3 or 4 inch pulley to decrease boost. No oil mods because its all contained internally i believe. What fuel mods would be required? Anyone see flaws in setup so far, ill figure more out once i pull the beast off the bonneville

From what I've heard, a supercharger doesn't work as well on a rotary as a turbo. But if you do pull it off and get 250hp, your car will be a rocket. Good luck to you it'd be nice to see a supercharged 1st gen working well.

The type of engine it is on has nothing to do with it.

I'm not sure if it was made clear yet, but you have an M62 supercharger. It was when GM switched to the series 2 3800 that they switched to an M90. The M62 just doesn't flow much. On a rotary, you'll probably max it out at only 7 psi.

i think 7 psi would be plenty thou. My engine isnt low compression or anything, so wouldnt anything over 7 cause problems? And at 7 psi would i even need to modify the fuel system or ignition
