I have one from an fb sitting around that isn't being used and never will be.
That's proven to be the trick; I never really suspected my 'canister' because the one test given for it in the FSM, which has to do with vacuum drop thru it when the engine is running, mine passed. Yet replacing it with a less-used lid made a noticable difference in vapor flood control.

I'm guessing that the flooding tendency may be the symptom that it's no longer absorbent enough to get the job done, but that's a guess.

Yep; 81 forward had the separate canister, and the A/C lid has no fitting in the center. 78-80 have the canister welded to the inside of the lid, and a vapor line fitting top center of the lid.

I always thought so; I managed to get ahold of a pair of SA seats in fairly tired shape at SevenStock last year; I'm gonna refurb them eventually, and swap out my pretty FB seats for some prettier SA ones. My goal is to learn how to make proper cast-foam seat bun replicas along the way.

For my SA today, I took delivery from Grayhound of a ginormous cardboard box shipped down from Sacramento.

It is was Christmas in July: A Cal-spec SA 5-speed with all three switches, a Fed-Spec but functional & original 1980 Nikki, and an SA shift lever with original **** on it. Plus an ACV and some smog bits. All supposed to be in solid running order. Though grubby, of course, having been pulled from a car for my benefit.

Know what I'm doing for the next couple months, I do.

as usual i didn't touch the FB.... day one with the Rx8 was interior cleaning, day 2 i cleaned the cup holder (its like 4 feet long!), and i cleaned (inside and out) and rotated the right side wheels.

day 3 i'm either going to try to get the water out of the taillight or clean and rotate the left wheels and tires, short day.

day 4, it goes to the dealership for a clutch pedal and an engine

Saw the gloomy day as a good opportunity to give it a bath. Washed, cleaned inside and wheels, degreased the engine bay a bit, and took her for a spirited drive in the Independence Day spirit. Happy 4th everyone

Today I FINALLY got to start installing the re-speed coilovers I got last year... I installed exhaust heat sheild, exhaust, gas lines, gas tank, axles into the rear, rear mounted, brake hardware and SS lines, driveshaft connected, rear bumper back on, illuminas and coilovers. Soon she can FINALLY come back down to earth off her ~3 month stint on blocks.

drove it all over socal for work, and put the little storage tray back in the dash in place of where the cb radio used to be. considering the previous owner handmade the wooden dash piece and shift surround, it fit perfectly. goes like snot, this little thing. puts a smile on my face every time i drive it

Put the finishing touches on the "Glazed Nikki". I have successfully built my own Sterling carb! It's going to be sitting on a ported Rx-3 manifold.

Finally got the steering box replaced in the series 3. No more wonder steer yay! Also got a couple of pics of both of them together. First time they've both been on the road at the same time.

I was bored at work and found almost a full roll of header wrap in one of my tool boxes, so i soaked the wrap in water and used my lunch break to wrap up the 1st half of my header primaries so im not always baking my LIM on my 13B swap.

...for those who want to wrap headers, soak the wrap in water first for 2 reasons. 1) it will conform to curves beters and wrap tighter and 2) it lessens the amount of fiberglass that gets embedded in your hands and arms

That's a good tip. I wrapped mine without soaking it and my hands and arms were itching for days after.
