1980 Mazda RX-7 Factory Service Manual
Specifically the section on brakes:
http://wright-here.net/files/manuals...(11)Brakes.pdf
The 1980 caliper mounting will be different, but I believe everything else is the same. I don't have a digital copy of the 1979 manual, but I do have the actual paper manual, if you need anything looked up.
There's also manuals from most other years, parts books, and some general rotary books on my site (link in signature) if I may be allowed to toot my own horn.

Drove it to work to power wash the underside, and mount my new BFGs.
It looks frickin' awesome.
Unfortunately, it is rejecting the heart transplant. The FC engine in the car ate a coolant seal, before I even got 30 miles on it. Very fortunately I did manage to acquire a fresh 12A, so I need not have TWO 1st-gens infected by 13B trash.

I did the coolant change thing. Decided to do the thermostat thing. So I changed the thermostat, and did the good guy stuff with the gasket maker. Then had the epiphany that I didn't use the new gasket. Took it apart before he gasket maker set up, Threw the new gasket on, did the gasket maker thing, and assembled it finger tight. Then I saw the thermostat out side. Dissembled everything, Then assembled everything including the gasket, the thermostat, and the gasket maker. Maybe if I did this in daylight I wouldn't have screwed up. And I did this without being drunk or high.
The punch line is at checkpoints cops ask me if I've anything the drink.

Type in "BFG TA Radial sizes". I think the site I look at is TireSizes.com or something. It will show you all currently available sizes that BFG is making for the TA. They dont have a very good selection for short 23, 24" tires like ours. The white letter tires like TA's, Cooper Cobras, etc aren't in style any more and are really marketed for muscle car guys going for "the look".

Back from the annual end of summer Dave Meet. Had a good time, even if it's been so long that I don't really recognize anyone anymore.
Car hated running for the two minutes it took to get from the garage to the BP. Not the running so much as the starting afterwards. Before the engine warms up, it blows combustion pressure into the cooling system, and when you shut it off, it blows right back out again. After adding fuel, I drove for three miles on one rotor before it finally cleared out again. But after that it was fine. Once it's hot, the engine tightens up and it stops huffing coolant.
It still likes to flood if you coast down in gear. Left foot braking is tricky, steering wheel too close to the pedals for me to move around that much. Handbrake does nothing useful because disk brakes. But out on the Interstate, it's a dream.
Interestingly, the rearend is loud in this one too. I think I'm just oversensitive to it. The exhaust is QUIET at least.

I pressure washed my series 3 carpet and, using water only, managed to get out most stains, mostly from a heater leak a few years back.
Before:
After:
About 1L of coolant came out!. I'll give it another go with a suitable soap/shampoo and a wet vac attachment to suck it all up.

I put in a very "shorthair" carpet black/grey carpet you can find in european camping cars. Easy to clean, lightweight and a more modern look. In the foot room and luggage space i was forming some very special alloy shell.

Went to a classic car meet with my son and his '16 mustang. We were definitely the outcasts! Got a couple looks from passersby, but the old school muscle car guys were not impressed....
