Thanks for that - only thing I'm waiting on is time to address it. Life has been hectic.

Nice and clean uncracked dash, no real rips unmolested black interior. Wasn't a huge fan of the S2's dash or interior but now that I own one I really like it.

Should be getting my RA order here soon so I can start the carb rebuild and check tomorrow or Sunday.

On a side note, nowhere around had an Xbox One today - pretty bummed about that. Next order should be in around Black Friday next week but that sucks. I'm really looking forward to that, can't wait for Forza 5!

I loved the interior on my 82. Admittedly the s3 looks better, but the s2 has charm :p

started helping my buddy do a SE swap on his 83 GSL. quick question though. Can I use the GSL brake lines or do I need the SE lines?

As per the '85 parts manual, GSL and GSL-SE use the same flex hoses.

This is a very true statement - well said

Had that happen on the highway today. Noticed the coolant level rising so I went to turn around and come home. As soon as I started to come back the hose popped and put coolant everywhere. Shut the engine off immediately and towed it home now.

Shouldn't be any engine damage since it didn't overheat, so I'm not too worried about it.

Got all these parts today though so I'll start working on these today or tomorrow.

Ordered up new radiator hoses, both of them while I'm at it, and will get some coolant later tonight.

Not a good link, but I can walk you through it. I just did it. Remove the inspection plate on the passenger side of the engine, near the firewall (held on by 2 10mm bolts).

Use a 19mm socket to turn the front pulley till you see a flat spot on the front of the flywheel.

Once the flat spot is in the "window", look at the front pulley very closely, and you'll see hash marks. Mine had one that is TDC, and then two more hash marks closer together. Set the pin into the first mark like the picture.

What did you do to your FB today?-image-3713903924.jpg

Then verify that you have it at TDC but removing your dizzy cap, and the rotor arrow will point towards L1, like in this pic. (My arrow points left because my engine is 180* out, just rotate the front pulley another 360* and it will all line up.)

If you need more pictures or explanation, just ask.

I drove Smooth today! all the way from the back yard to the front yard and back! Got a compression tester from Auto Zone with ALL THE PARTS.

Everything tested at least 65 -70psi! Boy am I happy. She wanted to start when I had the tester in top positions. The front was going up to 150 and smoke was coming from the connections... Put the plug back in, and fired her up... Stammerin and sputtering she didn't want to run without the choke even after she was warm. Rushing around to remove the air cleaner to attend the carb I tripped over a garden feature and went right on my *** into snowy mud, much to the amusement of my husband, who was acting "lovely assistant".

I am ecstatic (and out of the dog house)! I have turned the fuel feed WAY down and pray for good results tomorrow.

She has had a shift in her way... It seems that the longer I keep her running the more things loosen up and re-situate (She spent years in a desert back yard before I got her). I'm glad I got her test results. I feel better investing my attentions. Now back to getting the heater fan operable.

How did the spark plugs look?

pulling the choke restricts air ... I'd double check vaccuum connections

good thing we didn't let you give up lol

Smooth would like to thank everyone who discouraged her "stupid human" from hanging up her keys. You are all her "Favorite Uncles".

She started up again this morning like a champ. The snow is a foot of fresh powder and she's not getting any "doctoring" today.

You're all invited to join the chatter at her new build thread (link in signature).

Good to hear that!

I got a lot done to the car today including:
Flushed out all the coolant and replaced it with 50/50 coolant/distilled water
New Stant gas cap
New Stant radiator cap
New Wix fuel filter
10w-30 Valvoline Conventional oil change
K&N premium oil filter

After getting all of that done to the car I found I have a pinhole leak that doesn't appear to be repairable in the front of the radiator on the passenger side. When pressing the hose to create pressure it shoots out like this:

So I'm shopping around for a tall radiator right now.

Yesterday, I found this:

It was chock full of goodies:

- Full GC front coilover conversion with camber plates, Tokico Illuminas, stainless steel brake lines, and brake ducts.

And this Momo steering wheel...it's dirty, so it doesn't look like much, but it's in excellent nick and it comes with the boss. This will go in my FB soon.

It also had rear lowering springs and an RESpeed front sway bar, which I'll go back for. The 12A is intact and sports a Nikki wired for mechanical secondaries. It has the GSL axle w/LSD and disc brakes as well, but I'm not planning on getting those.

Lindhalish - check out ebay they have awesome cheap polished aluminum radiators. Haven't yet put mine in, but thats coming up here very soon. Your interior looks amazing, i'm jealous! I do love the S3 interior, but the s1/s2 interior is far more the classic lines of the 70's and 80's

MsDIY - SO glad to hear you're back on the road!

Damn man!! You made my scores look like a joke compared to those!!

I found a FB with a set of MSD 8202 coils in it at the commercial picknpull. I was able to get a nice set of front and rear floor mats too! Pretty cool to have a fully decked out 2+2. Even cooler passing rx8's on the track with a fully loaded interior on a pretty much stock gsl-se!

I am intrigued by this. Are you using just the FC strut on the FB control arm? Any links to folks who've done it?
I keep thinking about doing the whole subframe swap to get the FC engine mounts, rack and pinion, and big brakes, but this might serve in the interim. I've already swapped my SA to GSL-SE suspension with 16" wheels - if I re-drill T2 rotors to 4x114 and use the base-model FC hub, I'm good to go on wheels. 5x114 would nice, but then I'd have to re-drill and -stud axles, which is a but harder. Plenty of wheel choices with 4x114.
