September 7, 2010 OGTA Report
Turns out it was a New Moon, not a Full Moon (my mistake, can’t read the calendar) so Billy was completely normal.
Here’s the 12A Count:
1 SA = 1.5 12A’s (Tim, down from North Carolina for the evening)
8 FB’s = 8 12A’s (New Guy Rich and his pretty gold FB, mint with about 50,000 miles on the clock (sorry, no pics of that beauty), Greg the Younger, Gene, Dean, Carlton’s Retro’d SE project, Mike, Ray)
5 FC’s = 3.25 12A’s (Kristy’s PrePro, Pete’s Turbo, Andy’s Vert, Fred’s Black Beauty and Alan’s Equally Black Beauty)
2 FD’s = 0.66 12A’s (Tray, who came down from the NC Mountains with his black FD without a hood and returned with a hood, and Phillip’s very pretty Green FD Machine)
3 FE’s = 0.375 12A’s (Holly, Billy and Kevin with new GF)
Total 12A’s = 13.785, a very eclectic group
Here’s the pics, but unfortunately my camera did not record about half the shots I took so there are some major gaps, like Rich’s beautiful Gold FB, Tim’s extraordinary SA, Dean’s Cool Black FB, Brett’s New Tornado Silver FC, Fred’s Black FC and Alan’s Very Pretty Black FC – if anybody got some shots of these cars please post!
The SA Group:
Tim’s SA

The FB Group:
Mike’s Blue FB

Carlton’s new FB project, a retrofied SE

Crit’s SE

Gene’s FB(SE)

Yeah this is the beginning of Year Four for the monthly meetings, although it's been going on even longer than that if you count the impromptu meetings that were going on before "OGTA" was formed.
Now the group seems to be expanding, with more Young Guys with FC's, FD's, FE's and such showing up (we call them YGTB's).
Seems the tradition of keeping 20 year old+ rotaries on the road is being handed down to an enlightened younger generation. That's a good thing.
And it really helps to have so many Rotary Guru's in the area like Holly, Billy, Crit and others to make every meet interesting, that's just plain luck.
We welcome the 13B's but like Tim says, Old Guys (and 12A's) Rule!

Nice take Ray -- "enlightened younger generation" -- we'll see. I often hear a significant number of old school 356 drivers echo hopeful comments such as yours in the Porsche clubs that are seeking to transform and grow through more generation change.
Thanks again for all the pics.
Porches don't have rotary engines. They are totally lame. Unless...

I can't say I agree with your statement Ray, but it's understandable. A local rotorhead, and a good friend of mine, has been talking to me about building a rotary 914 this week. So we may see one at a OGTA meet.
I need to get to another meet, but I have some weird noise coming from my rearend...I mean my car's rearend, and I my schedule sucks now that school is in. The noise is brake related for sure, but I am not sure what. I may get to check it out this weekend and see what's going on. I am at Ga Tech every Tuesday for ROTC, and I have 6am PT every Wednesday. There needs to be a holiday on Wednesday soon.
