The only 12A stuff I have left is a pair of nikki carbs.
EDIT: oh and I have an SA only alternator (its the one that uses an external regulator with an airgap)

The housing was a gift from a Rotary God who lives in Brooklyn. He didn't even tell me he was sending it, saying only it was a "surprise".
It just showed up in the mail one day last week, which just happened to be the same day I had finally decided to toss in the towel and go 13B.
Needless to say, I'll be sticking with the 12As.

That will be a fine day Mark.
There are rumors that next spring all kinds of rotary projects are going to be completed and on display at the OGTA meetings. A couple of very hot REPU's, an RX-2, maybe this RX-4 that showed up in my driveway today (not mine, storing it for another OGTA member), SA's, FB's and of course the White One II.
All will have newly rebuilt engines, fresh paint and lots of carbs of all kinds. The best is yet to come@!

The engine came with the car (alongside the car in the trailor lol) It should have the same miles the car has 66k.
Have you cracked it yet?
BTW: I blew a coolent seal on the ride home.... No overheating on the ride home, and no smoking. I just went out to fire it up the next morning and a HUGE cloud of white smoke with watery sparkplugs.
I just got my new coolent seals in today. I can't wait to put them in an go back to driving a car again. Too cold for motorbikes now.

If you don't want to crack that motor open, then give Alumaseal a shot. When I installed my current motor, all of the coolant was going straight out the exhaust. Did some research, settled on Alumaseal, poured it into the radiator, and within about 20 minutes the problem was solved. Motor has about 30k miles on it since then, and never a sign of any issue.
Alumaseal is a radiator sealant, so it won't gum up anything in the motor. And, since it is based on aluminum flakes, it won't damage the motor if it gets into the combustion areas (aluminum flakes are highly combustible).
For the price of $4.00 you really can't go wrong...

Alumaseal, the real deal.
James it never occurred to me to do anything but tear that 12A down, hoping to get maybe just one good rotor housing.
But after you left, I noticed the engine turned over easily and had compression, so I checked on the apex seals and found all 6 were still floating (never seen that before in a 12A). Then I went back and checked your note and see you mentioned it was a relatively low mileage engine that may still be good.
Change of plan! I cleaned it up and plan to pop it in the White One II project when its ready, hope to get a few miles out of that old SA 12A motor until I have time (and money) to do the full rebuild on the FB 12A parts.
Just one more benefit of OGTA membership, thanks!

That motor didn't run too well for me when I put it in my car.... I might have had other things going on with the nikki...
The guy I bought the car from said that it ran like a champ. He also said the 13B in the car just needed to be put into time. LOL!!!!
I got 50 #s max on the front rotor when I had it in the car. It might have a side seal or two stuck.
EDIT: oh I'm gonna crack it wide open... I have brand new apex seals and some nice housings I'm gonna slide in there. Also the current 13B has 170k on factory components. From what I understand thats quite a lot of miles for an S4.
And I know this one doesn't have a crack in the rear iron.... grumble...
