i am not sure, but i would imagine that you would want the tranny too. and ofcourse the alternator, wiring harness, and either the tII ignition or some aftermarket one.

eddie the engine might fit peachy-keen with the 1st-gen front cover and oil pan but you'll need to use the T2 transmission...

You don't NEED the TII Tranny, it is recommended though.
You can use the SE tranny (or even 12A Tranny) with a lightweight TII Racing Beat Flywheel and the TII counterweight.

Mike, this is a relatively new thread. I just posted these links very recently (see Post date & Time).

I have been doing homework on this pretty aggressively for the past few months.

Hey, at least we can all benefit from it, and help each other that much more .

BOOSTEDROTORS.. I did the swap with no problem it went in like a glove , My car is a 1984 GSL i have a 88 Turbo II J-SPEC engine in it from Corksport me and couple friends rebuilt and Streetported, chromed out the housings painted it gloss black had the whole engine bay painted gun metallic silver people love it everything pretty much goes in straight with the Turbo II tranny, just have to make a custom drive shaft and you better work on the rear end becouse i have another friend who did the 93 swap into a GSL-SE he broke the rear end it's alot of power but at the end people admire it when they see it, also good luck finding people who can re-wire it, i would just get the haltech also don't throw any 12A parts they are usefull.

Great Linkz.. ()utstanding!!!

br0.. great links..even though I have most of them..I think posting them was a great idea. I just notice how few turbocharged 1st gens there are out there. I've searched the internet for years but found only a handfull.
On a sidenote.. a friend of mines.. asked me to make him some clear tail lights for his 1st gen. If you guyz like.. I'll post the steps. The clear tail lights.. and a set of LED bulbs.. should give the back of the 1st genz a updated look.

Anyone want a great attitude booster?! Go to Mazdaracing.com. If you go to the Videos section, there's a Carburated 12a 1st gen RX-7 beating the snot out of a Nova with a 302 and a brand-new mustang, with plenty of mods done to both!

I'm not endorsing street racing by showing these video's but it pretty damn cool. And the RX-7 kicks ***! You can see the horns from the carb sticking out of the hood.

Hey all just got all the bugs worked out of using factory ECU, most were mechanical, Car runs like a champ strangly sounds like a TII Any way ill update my site when there is time for me to do so. Putting a 13BT in an SE is easier than any other model.

A TII flywheel won't work in a SE or 12A tranny. If you use the smaller tranny, use the smaller lightweight flywheel, with the TII counterweight.

READ THE LINKS that have been posted. Turbofb.com combined with the yahoo groups turbofb list archives will soon be able to answer about any swapper's questions!

You are correct, but that is what I meant all along. My original point was that you don't HAVE to use a TII tranny for the swap (although I am).

well if you are planning to use a 12A tranny or even a GSL-SE tranny, you better have bunch of extra ones ready and get really good at chaning them
