looking for Cosmo 13B RE to FD motor mounts
I thought I may get a better response in this section. I know it's a hair off topic.
Apparently there's a company that makes motor mounts which allow someone to swap a Cosmo 13B RE into an FD but I cannot find the site. I have a friend who's interested in a Cosmo engine but he needs to know if he can get the mounts asap. Apparently the shop installing my engine can't find the link to the site. Any help greatly appreciated.

20B N/A Wide Body FC3S
K2RD sells them, but most of their site has been "under construction" now for about 5-6months.. If you go to their web page a www.k2rd.com you may be able to e-mail them or get a phone # to call them..
Hope this helps..

Hey Chris,
Inquired with them some time back..they just make Cosmo to TII mounts, not to FD mounts. Someone suggested using the TII mounts and modifying them. I've never seen a TII mount so I'm not sure how impossible that would be :-)

Well, here is the fastest and probably best way to do it.. , you can port the rear FD plate to the same size port runner as the 13B RE.. (I know because I'm doing it to a FD plate right now to match the 20B port) and you can match it to the port itself as well or what ever port you are putting on the engine. Then you can use the stock FD mounts with the 13B RE engine and bolt that puppy right in the car.. I'm not sure if your planning on tearing down the engine or not, but for the price of what your going to have to pay for mounts you could just build the engine and use the FD mounts..

Apparently Pettit has the mounts. I have torn my old motor apart and push comes to shove, I'll use the rear plate off of it. I just put in so much time and effort (and money) porting the Cosmo out. I'd hate to start all over again! I was told that custom motor mounts (includes just the metal part, not the actual isolator made out of rubber) runs $100. Of course I have yet to see these supposed mounts. :-)

I've solved the engine mount problem (or rather Compact Car Performance did) and the Cosmo engine is now bolted into my FD! I think it may be the first 13B RE in a street FD in the world? Go to http://www.nopistons.com/forums/inde...1&t=14153&st=0 for all the details.

That link you have posted is broken, do you still have that thread handy by chance? Im trying to do the same thing here with my FD as there are 0 new REW motors available right now.

This thread is almost twenty years old, and 13B-REs are worth crazy money compared to FD engines if you can even find one for sale. When this thread was new you could expect to pay $2700 for a 13B-REW and $1800 for a 13B-RE... the last RE I saw for sale was $9000 and it was gone fast.

Cosmo engiines? pssh ... i haven't seen one for maybe, like, two years now, maybe more. the last one i remember seeing, the guy wanted something like $5,000 for one that he had recently blown up, and i don't remember seeing photos of a disassembly, so it could have been maybe half a motor or less. with the prices of T2 engines and REWs where they are now, i get an error message anytime i allow myself to curiously wonder what a 20B goes for today.

so if you wanted a new engine built in Japan, you would have to wait for it.
however if you just wanted a new engine, Mazda USA has all the parts in stock to build one, cost is not that different.
so this is how it is now, but it will change again
