i think we're gonna transfer the 20b to the 914 porsche and just do a 60-1 turbo on the 2 rotor in the fc.

Well I survived another day at the track...W00T...I even bumped up the timing 5 degrees across the board, and ran 110 octane...on the stock intercooler (LOL Dave I know). I did manage to blow my fuel pump fuse on the track and have to be towed off. Only safe tow point was under the car or my strut bar...seeing as I'd much rather sacrifice the cheap eBay bar that came with the FD, I got pulled from there instead of screwing up my bumper. So no more eGhey strut bar.

Time for coilovers and bigger wheels/tires...

Its cause I'm special. At least my mommy says so.

The other kicker about the whole thing, is that by upping the timing, I was seeing consistant 1.25 bar peak boost during the morning sessions - that's a little above 18 psi. Made the car scoot very very nice. This also caused my stock intercooler line to burst...the one that goes from the turbo to the bottom of the intercooler. 30 minutes & $5 later, we got a local muffler shop to cut us some pipe and we slipped it inside the torn IC hose, clamped it shut, and boost was restored. In the afternoon I was getting between 1 and 1.1 bar. My previous track day, it was 1 bar in the morning and .95 during the afternoon. Gotta love 110 octane. Keep in mind too, that I wasn't completely suicidal, and kept the revs below 7300 due to the 4 850cc injectors. I was never able to run the wideband due to the leaded gas, but the fact that the car drove to Oxnard, then back to the desert afterwards running the same as it did before, is indication enough that the Atkins apex seals were pleased with the overall AFRs.

Mazpower, I've removed that fuse to empty my fuel lines before changing my fuel filter. The engine died pretty quickly at idle, I'd hate to see what happens at race RPMs! Glad to hear your car survived the weekend.

You said you advanced the timing 5 degrees more than before, but what were the actual numbers, if you don't mind me asking? Are you compensating for boost only, or a combination of RPMs and boost?

It was strange, there was no sputtering or anything, the car just completely shut off right before turn 3 on the track.

As for timing, 24 degrees at 0 psi, 7 degrees at 17-ish psi. Nothing too fancy. Attention is paid to estimated peak torque areas and timing is adjusted accordingly. So yes, my maps compensate for both RPM and boost.

Sweet...how do you like it? I'm assuming you're controlling it with the Haltech?

knocked 30*C off the egt's with just water without doing anything. i gave it one more degree timing above 10psi (the turn-on point) and that brought them almost back to where they were. i'll play with it on the dyno to get some more power, but right now, it's more of a safeguard.

and yes... i ran out of pwm's on the haltech, so i had to tap into aux 1. i'm totally running out of outputs on the e8! idle, tach, fans, WI, and boost are all on the haltechs list of duties.

vipers,i like it just fine, but i got it for free... IIWY, i'd probably just pick up a cheap cooling mist kit. just pay attention to the nozzle size and flow rate. i remember talking to that guy last year and he was telling me to inject 20+% water!!! all that's gonna do is put the fire out!

since you're not trying to get 5 or 6 hp/cid, it's not worth it. might add a tiny bit of safety, but if you're blowing n/a's up, you just suck and really need to hire a tuner.

For anyone who doesn't really care for football or this years super bowl.... Casey, myself and a few others are planning to go to six flags this sunday. Tickets are only $30 if you order online and print them yourself. Super Bowl sunday is their least busy day. From what others who have gone on this day said all rides are walk on.

So if anyone would like to come along you are all more than welcome. Just let either of us know.
