You know I hear a lot of people in this thread bitching about the country becoming this way. Well guess what, it's Cali and this state's laws that are the problem. I live here because the military stationed me here. I've been to all 50 states and 39 foreign countries in my military career. While I don't like Cali and it's hippy laws, we still have it better than THE MAJORITY of other countries. While other states laws are better for people like us just take this in stride. It sucks and I'm pissed about it, but there's little we can do. And instead of saying that the whole country is going to ****, remember that it's Cali that sucks and not the whole country. Just my .02

if state laws just relax a little bit, there are modifications that dont break the sound or smog laws. its just the stereotyping that modified import cars are related to street racing and gangs that puts the rest of us that try to stay within the legal barrier between a rock and a hard place.

what's the point of moving to AZ for your car if it's just gonna melt out there?

Does SEMA know about this crackdown? They have a vested interste in aftermarket parts and some clout. But the state is always looking for revenue and good PR......................

It may be time to go back to the *sleeper look*.

I fully agree about the sleeper look. The only thing with our cars is the loud exhaust. It's hard to keep a rotary from being loud when the pipes are opened up.

DriveFast7, awesome Repu by the way. I want one of those!!

Regardless of whether you think the laws or how they are enforced are just, you have to be smart enough to "play the game".

*don't run a loud exhaust. You want to run a midpipe? Then stick with a quiet cat-back and weld-in a Borla XR-1 muffler into the midpipe.

*don't install obvious mods like ricers do. The dual and triple gauge pods on the a-pillar? Don't do it. There are other more subtle alternatives, like center speaker pods.

*as above, don't install a bunch of gaudy aftermarket body pieces. They attract the wrong kind of attention....and most of them are ugly as **** anyway!

*don't run around with "limo dark" tinted windows.

*don't drive like a little dipshit on public roads.

Play it smart, guys. I fully intend on making 350 rwhp, on pump gas, while running an air pump, hi-flow cat, and being able to pass smog. We'll see how close I get.

but what about my dream of having the riceiest car in California?!?!

seriously, some people are happy with just power mods, but I don't see a car as complete without a kit and some growl to it. Too bad that doesn't fly with the boys in brown.

I think you meant the boys in "BLUE" because I hardly doubt the UPS or better know at the "boys in brown" to the rainbow flag waivers are going to bring on a threat to auto enthusiasts

I have to disagree with you on your statement that there is "little we can do." I am reading, about the car shows and race events that you all conjugate to quite frequently, in this forum. Instead of being another mouth in the crowd try doing something like pick-up a clipboard and a pin and collect signatures from others just like you and send it in to your mayor and what the heck make a copy and send it to your state politician or representatives. If you receive no response or nothing comes out of it in your favor. Then! you can say you gave it your best and Uncle Sam does not care.

DBreeze, you do make a very valid point. And many people will be too lazy to ever do that. I personally don't have much of a place to do it since I'm not even considered to be a state resident. The military lets me keep my home of record in NC. But I don't like how the laws are in Cali though they don't affect me.

I work like 80 hour weeks. No time to walk around bugging people for signatures. We need to get on TV is what we need to do. So anyone here know anyone at NBC?
