^this could be simply untrue, as I havent been there myself, but thats what the webpage says

yea, I wouldn't doubt that the Japanese cops rarely break those races up it's because the cars are too fast and they do it so freakin' late there's hardly anyone on the road. The thing is I don't think it's as high a priority to the Japanese as it is here, reason being cops here associate modified cars to Asian gangs (stereotyping), illegal street racing, and other crap like drugs, gambling, blah blah blah. I don't blame cops for doing what they have to do, but I wish the enforcement on modifications is just as strong on domestic cars as it is on imported ones.

The thing about Japan is, they think only Japanese kids are out there. If these white cops thought only white kids were "street racing," there probably wouldn't be such a big stink about it. It's all about race. Think about all those street racing scenes from old movies. It's almost like a rite of passage for white kids. Once it became an "import" thing, it's a huge problem all of a sudden.

Asian influence will always be stifled here in the states. I'm not condoning street racing, but damn... how many of you asian guys used to get pulled over and harassed by cops for DWY? I used to get pulled over at least 4 times a week, just so they can "ask" to search my car. I'm so sick of all these racists. Fumanchu needs to arrest theone81! ok, that was the last racist crack on theone. I promise. maybe.

You know, I think streetracing is about the worst thing, but cracking down on modded cars doesn't really do much. I've seen streetracing that involves as many regular "stock" cars as modded ones. Also, how is having a set of wheels and exhaust really a bad thing, i think it sux that we don't have the freedom to customize our cars without being punished for it... I know I personally take my cars to sanctioned racing events and i can't really afford to have a specific race car, so my mods doesn't really bother anyone (that i'm aware of) does produce much more emissions, and i'd like to be able to have them one my street/track car...

you guys are generalizing a little bit......

I'm white and I get pulled over every time I get on the road even on the bicycle, funny but true.....my best friend is Chinese and he makes donuts with different cars in front of police and they don't pull him over.

police use to pull me over just to ask what kinda car I was driving.......it's all luck guys

well, I'm sure it has a little to do with how you look as well. I've had friends that were nerdy 4.0 students, but they still got harassed because they somehow looked like asian gangbangers.

To cops, any asian kid that doesn't have a bowl cut is a gangbanger (at least that's what it was like when I was a teen). Getting pulled over is one thing, but getting pulled over -- specifically to be searched! -- is a completely different thing. Whether you want to believe it or not, race is very much an issue. Next time a cop pulls you over and immediately asks to search your car followed by "so, who do you roll with? what's your claim to fame?" you can tell me that I'm generalizing. Let me know the next time a cop keeps TELLING you what gang you're supposedly from, and that he knows you and that you belong to some gang you've never heard of.

I don't want to sound too harsh to the people that really don't believe this to be a race issue, but I'm not giving examples of things that happened once or twice, I'm talking about being harassed on a regular basis. It got to a point where getting pulled over was routine. I never even worried about getting a ticket since they usually just let you go after searching your car.

the force is great with me. i roll pass cops in my gutted stinky noisy 2nd gen no prob. My windows are rolled down, so are the cops, we even exchange glances.

i take off all slow and shift and 2.5k, its still deep and loud. You just have to keep an eye out, and slow down if your around the man.

as far as race, im half mexican half white. Brown in the summer, white in the winter.

no you don't sound harsh....you see in Europe you can give about 200 euros to a cop and he will let you go, here on the other hand you learn how to play the piano if you do that.

...pshaw118 don't forget these cops that pull us over on regular basis, they get comission from giving tickets. They don't know anything better than that.

Few days ago my friend and I were being followed by some idiot for no reason. Couple seconds later I saw cops on the other side of the street, just chatting and drinking coffee in front of their cruiser. We stopped the car came out, and started waiving and calling them over......the only thing they did was waiving back at us.

yea, its called peer pressure now. maybe it makes them feel bad if they have the lowest ticket count in the whole precinct? honestly though, there are a lot of instances that sway the public to believe that cops are worthless and are there mainly to harass and annoy the public. but there are also times when the cops really do prove what they stand for, that is to serve and protect. basically, trying to curb street racing is a way of protecting other motorists from dumbasses showing off mommy's graduation present, or however they managed to get a hold of their car. too bad the misunderstandiing between enthusiasts and street racers/gangs is so great that the law will go to great lengths to curb racing in the streets. imo, that money would be better off spent sponsoring driver's training on car control and track events.

So you want us to stop murders and rapes before they happen? If you think that is possible, I feel sorry for you.

Well it's not your fault prisoners get the probation and get back on doing what they know best. But it's not my job to serve and protect.

Don't feel sorry for me, because you chose that job not me.
