I believe you have 5 business days to Notify DMV of a Change of Address, so ya got screwed on that one too.
As far as the plate ticket they will probably double the administrative fee for your license plate ticket.

Ok i got a few good questions for you officers.
1: According to the california vehicle code, guages which diplay the overall health and functionability of systems which are required for proper engine function are ALLOWED to be added (i.e. coolant temp, oil pressure etc.)
Question: Can a police officer pull me over, and in seeing my gauges, use them as probable cause to pop my hood, even though they are legal?
2: The U.S. constitution guarantees us certain rights as citizens of the U.S. of A. One of those rights is the right AGAINST illegal searches and seizures. Now, there is the little part called the "plain sight" clause which allows officers to search a vehicle if he could see something which gives him probably cause to search (i.e. drugs, a weapon etc), but this has to be in "plain sight" from outside the vehicle.
Question: I am currently undergoing a formal complaint for a police officer who did the following, I already got his watch commander's feedback, I'd just like to see what you think:
I was stopped at a red light, it was twighlight out. My g/f was in the passenger seat. A officer walked up to my vehicle (he was parked on his bike at the corner,) and he stuck his upper torso IN to my vehicle via. the passenger window. Keep in mind, at this time, I still haven't noticed him. He is hovering over my g/f, who is speechless, and he proceeds to shine his flashlight around my area of the car -- I jump out of surprise only to find a cop with the top half of his body in my car, shining a flashlight looking around. He pulls me over for having dealer plates (new car) and proceeds to be a complete *******.
So did he violate my right against illegal search and seizure? You be the judge...

It's safety for the cop first.
You second.
And this already puts the cop in a bad mood to start.

I don't think that'll work. Judges in California aren't dumbasses.

See what you think about this one FU..... in December of 06 i was traveling to work on the this was in La Verne by the way. there is a RR crossing on the way there the speed limit is 45, which i was going. The lights started to blink thats it, guards weren't down yet i was about 30-40 yards away so about 2-3 seconds away so i went through it. There was a car in the next lane id say a car length or two back. anywho i passed the crossing kept going i see him pull out of a driveway after the crossing didn't think anything of it no lights wasn't hauling ***. about a 1/2 mile later just 100 yards from the driveway from work lights bust on. I pull over license registration insurance and what not...... he says" you know why i pulled you over" natural answer "NO"..... cop:"you ran that crossing" Me: "yeah i know i didn't think i was going to stop in time and i didn't want to slam on my brakes and end up in the tracks" cop: "Well the car next to you was able to stop" seriously WTF kind of defense is that. Anyways this is my second ticket ever. and for some reason i seem to attract cops towards the end of the year. Is this a quota ticket? Is there such a thing?

ok EFF the cop who looked at my car today. he wouldnt sign it because it was zip tied to the grill(im only gonna be driving this car for another week) he said its not "safe". so he said he cant sign it because of this.
so now i have to put two wholes in my completly destroyed bumper. not a big deal, except i have no tools but a ratchet and some sockets, so this is gonna suck.

The quota question's been answered to death on so many different forums that it's not even worth answering. No hard quotas, but you don't want to have too little or too much. That's about the gist of it.
Other than that, I have no idea what you're talking about. Full sentences and correct punctuation really do help make your words understandable. They didn't teach it in grade school just for kicks.

So.... you half-assed your front plate, even told the cop that you half-assed it just to get the ticket signed off, and you expected him to actually sign off? Even if he believed that you bought the other car and that you're not going to drive the 7 anymore, why would he sign off on the ticket? You broke the law by not having the plate. Instead of spending $5 and about 10 minutes to fix properly, you spent 1 minute and $0.03. So what part of that puts the cop in the wrong?
Even if you really aren't going to drive the 7 anymore, you still need to properly attach the plate or pay the full fine. You got the ticket because you didn't have a plate, not because the state of California doesn't want you to drive your 7 anymore. You're the one that screwed up, and you're the one that tried to get away with a half-assed solution. Why are you getting mad at a cop that's PROPERLY doing his job?

actually it cost me more to zip tie it .....i didnt think about bolting it on to my bumper at the time, cus i dont have a powered screw driver. but im borrowing my friends and doing it right.
its not that i just zip tied it and called it a day, i actually made it look nice, you couldnt tell it was zip tied until he started pulling on it(clear ties)

hey guys, cool thread. I am in the west, but not CA. I visit CA frequently, usually in my DD. I am thinking of taking my 7 next time when we got to laguna beach.
The 7 has all emmissions removed, sprays methanol, modified exhaust, standalone, replaced dash, upgraded turbo, relocated battery and oil filter... the list goes on.
Let's say, hypothetically, that I don't speed, and obey all traffic laws. Since the car is registered in AZ, I live in AZ; can CA police ticket me for the "modified car" laws?
