Alright, pop quiz: The airport. Gunman with one hostage, he's using her for cover, he's almost to the plane. You're a hundred feet away...

I have a question.

How much "work" is it for an officer to file a police report? How long does it actually take? Minutes? Or 10+ minutes? (Assume simple parking lot "bumpb" and not a major crime scene) Just asking to see if it truly is a PITA process.

Heck, feel free to post up the general daily activities of a cop. (Come into work. Put on uniform. Listen to briefing, etc. ) Just to give us an idea of what goes on.
Report writing is the backbone of law enforcement. For 5 mintues of action, you have an hour of report writing. It truly does suck. Since I am mostly in the jail...lets say an imate calls me an *******. The action itself of him calling me an ******* and me telling him to shut the **** up before I make him, takes maybe 20 seconds. After I write all the reports, talk to me Senior about it, and write the discipline up for him, I am looking at an hour or so of work. Just imagine a shooting or robbery.

Here is a couple of vehicle codes for you guys about exhaust. Even if a f40 spits flames out the back, it is ILLEGAL in California if a cop so desires.

27153. No motor vehicle shall be operated in a manner resulting in
the escape of excessive smoke, flame, gas, oil, or fuel residue.
The provisions of this section apply to motor vehicles of the
United States or its agencies, to the extent authorized by federal
law.
27150. (a) Every motor vehicle subject to registration shall at all
times be equipped with an adequate muffler in constant operation and
properly maintained to prevent any excessive or unusual noise, and
no muffler or exhaust system shall be equipped with a cutout, bypass,
or similar device
27151. (a) No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor
vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted
by the motor of the vehicle so that the vehicle is not in compliance
with the provisions of Section 27150 or exceeds the noise limits
established for the type of vehicle in Article 2.5 (commencing with
Section 27200). No person shall operate a motor vehicle with an
exhaust system so modified.
(b) For the purposes of exhaust systems installed on motor
vehicles with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of less
than 6,000 pounds, other than motorcycles, a sound level of 95 dbA or
less, when tested in accordance with Society of Automotive Engineers
Standard J1169 May 1998, complies with this section. Motor vehicle
exhaust systems or parts thereof include, but are not limited to,
nonoriginal exhaust equipment.
So depending on which code the officer writes down depends on if you can get it signed off or not. 27150 doesn't care about sound decibel level. 23151 does.

Is it illegal to modify your exhaust? lets say you still have the cats, and your car is within the legal DB sound range and a cop without checking anything, just looking at it from behind gives you an uncorrectable modified exhaust what should you do? i have a story thats also similar to this that happened to me a Jestersrain

I was at a mc donalds, outside of my car for a few minutes (prolly about 4 minutes) 2 motorcycle cops roll in ask us if these were our cars. we reply that yes, they are. They tell us to get into our cars so we do. they then ask for liscense and reg. they proceded to have us step out of the car. they popped OUR hood without permission, then had us start our cars. They tested how loud my car was by putting the DB reader INSIDE my exhaust pipe and then sighting me for too loud exhaust (4 DB over) and modifed emissions and uncorrectable modifed exhaust.

also, i have drifting stickers on my car. is this probable cause to pop my hood? if its not, what can i say to detur them from popping my hood.

What can i do/say if a cop threatens to break my face with his flash light when i ask him why i was pulled over? can i file a complaint, would it accomplish anything?

also, is it in the rulebook profile young drivers in sports cars?

thankyou very much
It's hard to tell what actually happened in your story. I don't know the exact specifics and there are WAY too many variables.

In my eyes, stickers would not be enough PC to stop a car or make you pop your hood. If an officer can make that fly in the courts, then more power to him.

All agencies take complaints seriously. It's easy to make one and I encourage you too. I hate seeing a few bad cops destroying the rest of our images.

Yea I have a question. When I had my 240sx that i sold about 2 weeks ago I got a fix it ticket about 1 of my 4 headlights being out and I know I have 60 days to get it fixed. Less than a week went by and I got pull over agian by 2 cops this time about my light being out and I got another ticket for the exact same thing. Could I fight the second ticket because they didn't give me my full 60 days and possibly do more for hassling me?

You could just go to the courts and tell them that you already had a ticket issued for the same thing. No big deal. The cop did nothing wrong. There is no way of checking out if you actually did get issued a ticket.

I am having a hard time try to put it down in words. Let me do some more reading and I will get back to you. I know it's perfectly legal.

"All agencies take complaints seriously"

Not Chino. Nope. Took a verifiable complaint of abuse direct to their Chief of Police TWICE, and nada.

Confirmed by both by an arbitrator and independent investigation by insurance company. Presented their written conclusions to the Chief of Police. Nada.

Nope, not Chino.

Can't get hired by the agency of your 1st, 2nd through 100th choice? Never frear, Chino has a position waiting for you. Got fired from another agency for abuse of authority, no problem. You are exactly the kind of character Chino is looking for. Especially if your last name is McCombs.

Are Prositution stings entrapment?

The short answer is “no”.
Prostitution stings (aka john stings) involve female officers dressing up as call girls/hookers, hanging out in high crime areas, and approaching men (usually in cars), and asking them if they “want a date”. The conversations proceed from there, often with the undercover officer being the first one to actually raise the prospect of exchanging sex for money (which is the legal definition of prostitution in Texas).

Austin Police Department runs these sorts of sting operations several times a year. Well, if you’re arrested in this sort of operation, can your lawyer successfully argue entrapment?

Probably not. Through caselaw, the definition of entrapment in Texas includes not only inducement or persuasion by the officer to commit the crime. It also must be of such a nature that the ordinary law abiding citizen would have been induced or persuaded to commit it.

Thus, at jury trial, if the defense were even successful in having an entrapment charge submitted to the jury, the prosecutor can simply argue this: “Find this defendant not guilty, if you too, the jury members would have agreed to have sex with this undercover officer for money.” That’s a pretty high standard to get a juror to agree with (at least back in the jury room with the other members).
There you go. I couldn't remember the part about the ordinary law abiding citizen wouldn't have done it. Basically, the perp drives to that area where known prostitutes hang out and he has no other reason to be there. Then to make the case better, the perp asks the prostitute/cop to get in the car so they can "talk". Even though it says Texas, I couldn't find the case law for California. But it's the same.

How do I know? I was shown a letter that the Chief says all officers must sign with the centerpiece being "If you lie you die." Despite verification by a 17 year police officer from another agency, no one (with the last name of Vega) was fired or demoted. Despite two 3rd party investigations, no one (with the last name of Bemowski) was fired or demoted. Hell, not even an apology.

How about retaliation by messing with DMV records, then calling it a clerical error when called on it. That officer is now a Corporal at Chino.

How about threatening physical harm only because you weren't able to present your drivers license as quickly as the officer felt should have been.

How about out right lying confirmed by an 17 career officer of another agency. That officer is now a Sergent at Chino.

I tell you, low moral character is rewarded in Chino.

I might believe your representation being true for most agencies. But, not in a million years do I believe it at Chino. Hell, I happen to know the San Bernadio office of the Attorney General has been asked to investigate the Chino police department abuse of authority. Not a good place. Easy to understand why the writers of OC chose Chino as being the poster child of unsavory cities. Probably because similar experience of chino police courtesy.

Not all of us want to go out to E. BFE all the time and even though I know that the Old Bligereants won't go out to Ventura with their S2000's, figure Cool as Crap, and others might not mind going out to N. BFE to hang sometime...

If the Ventura Monthly meets were still on, I'd say meet you there this weekend, but those seem all but dried up....

So, you let me know what's good for you and I'll let you know if I can make that
Hopefully It'll turn into a Beater Meet, "North".

Car Runs Strong, and has WAY to much power... actually you should be giving me a ticket right now, cause I'm thinking of breaking the law by speeding 40 mph in a 35 on the way to work...

Fu : i was pulled over last night on my way home from work by an officer and he gave me a ticket for a 27150(a) - modified exhaust..thats fine...but he didnt check off correctable or not. both boxes are blank and he failed to put his id number on the ticket as well as mixing up several fields such as height, eyes, and weight.

my question is this : being as he didnt mark it as non correctable or correctable can i take it to a referee and get the ticket reversed by passing a DB test or even by putting in the silencer and having it looked at by an officer/referee? can i keep the referee results of the DB test on me so that if i get pulled over again i can use it as proof that the muffler is legit with/without the silencer?
