blizzaga, don't worry my fiance was pissed when i told her how much they cost but shut her mouth once we drove at night with them. More than anything these lights are a needed safety mod if you like driving at night and it's a plus that they look ubber sexy too, lol. When you coming back to NY?

Ok guys just a little update. I am placing the order for the headlight housings in the next few days. It will probably take a month or two for the housings to arrive then we can start production. We will keep everyone updated on progress and most likely start a new thread for the next GB. Of course we will transfer this list to the next thread so you all will keep your spots

We don't want to start taking money until it gets closer to production time; otherwise we will get some impatient people wondering why they haven't received parts for the money they've put down

HAHA, I've got some excuses in my bag when and IF she does find out how much these cost. I really love cruising at night so I tend to see lots of super nice bi-xenon headlights around town...I'd really like to be a part of that crew. I'd like to come back to NY soon. I would have gone if I went to DGRR but unfortunately work has really put a stop to my adventurous days. Heck, I'll be even lucky to wrench once a week now!
Can't wait till the headlights are done though, I'll be like a little kid playing in the night with the FD.

Aesthetics aside (everyone has different tastes I realize) adding these lights (or something equivalent) to your car is as important as decent brake pads and good tires. The stock lighting in these cars (and I'm not trying to get all sales-pitchy) is honestly a safety concern/hazzard. I've repeated my deer story a few times already, but I almost lost my car 4 years back as a result of the stock lights, which got both Dan and I into this project way back then, searching for not a patch but a solution.

Without sounding like I'm trying up up-sell our lights or whatever (and I realize I'm highly biased) that running quality HID projectors in your car is actually protecting your investment into the car from a safety standpoint. Skimping on lighting was a big mistake for mazda. If you need justification for the lights (and even I did when I first got into this knowing the prices) it's a fraction of the cost of replacing your car, or worse the possibility of getting injured. Adding the speed of the FD into the mix, good visibility (I think) is damn important. I would wager that if an insurance company calculated risk/cost ratio they would probably agree that the lowered risk outweighs the cost of the lights, considering the price many of us have invested into the car. I'm not saying walk into the AAA office and say "check out my super cool new lights, can you lower my premium?" Though... idk they DO take money off for 3rd brake light, airbag, ABS, etc.... who knows .

Anyway, if for no other reason that safety, I feel confident in saying that once you have these installed in your FD you will feel that it's money well spent (and anyone currently driving with these lights please chime in... don't take my word for it ). At night I feel 100x more confident driving, cause I can actually SEE where I'm going and whats on the side of the road (and whats down the road, and whats in the other 8 lanes of the highway haha ). I know they are expensive, and if we could make them cheaper we would. The components are very expensive, and they are extremely labor intensive to build. But once you drive with these for a couple days you'll NEVER be able to go back to the stock lights, or anything else for that matter.

PS sorry for writing a book lol, and disclaimer, this was not intended to be a sales pitch! Ah hell, who am I kidding, buy some lights

Heath is very correct about the use of proper HIDs like these on our cars. They truly are the difference between "night and day", pun intended. I went a different route because of aesthetics (tried to be a lazy bastard by getting these guys to do the work) and was shocked by how much difference projector HIDs make. It's literally fun driving at night because you can see so far ahead. I haven't even bothered yet to use the high beams because the low beams are so effective.

Invest in something like this and you will be very happy - and you can tell the g/f or wife you did it to be safe

My fiance doesn't like to spend a dime, unless it's to save an animal, lol. When I told her how much these lights cost she thought I was out of my mind. She hates my car cause of the smell, noise it makes when the wastegate opens, and most of all the money I spend on it. She also doesn't mind spending money when it's worth it and when she went out for a drive at night with me she even thought it was money well spent.
I've only owned my FD for maybe 3 years and been driving it for 1 but one of my biggest let downs, which may actually be the only one, was the **** poor lighting. If you put things in perspective these lights are a great price and if you can afford them you should most definitely get them while you can. From a customers perspective what Heath said is not a sales pitch but the god honest truth. I personally feel the GB price is extremely fair. Look at the prices of most other options out there, then compare their functionality to these. I bet you find these are one of the best deals out there. I got these purely for the lighting upgrade and was happy that I got to keep the pop ups. There was another set of lights I stumbled onto that I considered from the forum but once I compared the pricing of the two costs, halogens and HID, there was no question. These lights cost about the same as the halogens of the other one's and hundreds less than their HID version. As soon as Heath pm'd me that I could get into the second batch of the first group I sent the money with no hesitation.
Bottom line is these are a great product at a great price and these guy's are great to deal with. No one should be driving around dark roads with stock lights, it's kinda dangerous. I can't explain my satisfaction with these lights. If you haven't seen them in person try and find someone that has them so you can see them in person I guarantee any question you have will be answered and you'll be ready to get your set.

Here is my review:
These lights are fantastic products. My car is a Spirit R Type A with around 12500miles, so I didn't want to change the pop-up style lights. I am keeping everything on this car stock as much as possible. But the stock lights were dismal. Its been a long time since I drove any car with such bad lights, let alone such a potent sports car.

First thing I did was install an HID kit. The difference was night and day. But the problem was the high beams were no different and the lights shone everywhere! The hid kit was 428$.

When I saw these, I thought it was a no-brainer. Went for it immediately. The product is top-notch. The ballasts are really solid looking and very small in size. Everything was perfect. When I installed them and lit them up, the difference was AGAIN night and day from the HID kits I had installed before. Even though the HID kits produced a lot of light, but these kits made the visibility so much better: so much more usable light, not light everywhere! And there were high beams too!

And the customer service and all around behavior of Dan and the team are just fantastic, which alone is enough to buy from them.

Thanks guys for making such a wonderful product.

I didn't know you had a spirit R type A! All I can say is you are one lucky guy!! Dream car, and in white none the less . If we could bring them to the states we most definitely would. I can't imagine how much nicer it is driving an 8 year younger FD with all the tweaks and upgrades (let alone the fact that it's an SR) Enjoy it!

I'm sure Mariah will be chiming in soon and drooling over your white SR too!

Fitted mine today. Absolutely awesome!

Just recorded a 1080p vid of night driving, will edit & youtube it later. Could be useful for people interested in buying these.

Un-aimed I thought they we're pretty damn good....aimed they're amazing!

Thanks again to Dan, Heath & Heaths lady friend for a great product

[/QUOTE]

This is the main reason why I am buying it...damn these subliminal messages! Joke aside, my girlfriend is a straight up women! She will NEVER understand on why I spend on such things. Even if it were to literally make my nightly driving a much more better and safer experience. Heck she once gave me a speech as to why buying a Louis Vuitton bag would better serve someone than doing an engine rebuild (of course...went one ear and out the other)...I don't get her at times.
I really can't wait to get my hands on these and I am sure as hell that words (nor videos) can not even begin to explain on how they perform!

~Shar

PS: Contrary to what I said, can't wait to see that HD video up.

Yay! I'm really glad you finally got them finished. After the long wait for the second run, the international shipping snafu and my forgetting to include your harness in the package I'm sure it feels good to actually get to use them . Lets see those RHD projectors in action!

Definitely totally worth it. I love these lights!!

[/chime]

Someone asked about painting the interiors black. I did something along the same lines by creating some Carbon Fiber plates that cover the entire reflector opening - only the projector itself sticks through. I installed LEDs around the perimeter of the plate. The plates with LEDs are installed inside behind the front lens - Heath suggested I could soften the glue with a heat gun to remove it; worked like a charm. I like the LED effect, but stupidly chose blue LEDs. Once I switch them out to a legal color, I'll take some shots so you can see what I am talking about...

Yes, I think we're going to run it for another week or two and then cap it. We need to actually open a GB#2 specific thread, which should happen in a few days. For now add yourself to the list.

Couple questions about light:

Which New OEM Phillip light bulb does it use (ie. model g83h37)?

How much do they cost each and where's the cheapest place to buy them?

How long do they last?

The lens was refered to, elsewhere, as glass... is it glass or is it plastic?
