yeah aftermarket is the greddy ballast... you ordered the OEM (upgraded) ballast so I updated the list to reflect that

When I ordered the upgraded one I was under the impression it was aftermarket and was the more expensive one of the two. I believe it said it used a aftermarket ballast for it's thin design so you can install it under the headlight cover. I thought upgraded meant aftermarket ballast which was the greddy. What's upgraded OEM?

The Greddy unit is the aftermarket ballast that comes standard with this kit. If you pay extra, you get a ballast that is made by an original equipment manufacturer (OEM). The one from the OEM is the so-called "upgraded" ballast since parts from OEMs are generally much more reliable and long-lasting than parts from an aftermarket manufacturer like Greddy. The rest of us are taking a little bit of a gamble with the Greddy unit (although it should probably work fine) so I think you made a good choice.

In this case Maximum is correct. The upgraded ballasts are OEM ballasts and do cost more then the aftermarket units. Though I don't think there will be any longevity issues with the aftermarket (greddy) units. Sorry I've been MIA, I've been out of town for the last few days.

Orders #1-23 are ready to ship, and assuming everything is paid up you should receive an email with your tracking number early next week (fed ex for US orders, USPS for international). i dont see how it could take that long... though we are using fedex ground? but still... id expect that timeframe to the east coast not within CA. I'll check what the deal is. -Heath

Also, I just wrote up an installation and aiming guide. It's a first draft. It's too wordy, too detailed, and needs more pictures... but it will get you all the way through the installation. We'll revise it but the link will stay the same (and we will also host it on our website when the website is finished). Anyway, here is a link to the installation guide ->

That is a very good writeup and should make these a no-brainer to install. I love the first line "Press the "headlight-up" button..." This should be a user test - if you can't figure this out, stop and take the car to a professional!

I will be taking pictures of the install process later today. The install guide definitely needs to be edited and is by no means a final draft. As much as it's a no brainer we felt it was necessary to include detailed instructions

Hell people can even use this guide for their ebay HID installs.

Nah,

I'm just turning it around and selling at twice the price.

And yes, I'm kidding too.

Default is NO sig. required... so no one should have that headache. I just spent the last 3 days trying to carve out some time in my busy schedule to go get a package that needed a signature... not a fun way to spend an evening

Custom Delivery

I had the pleasure of a personal meet and greet with Heath today. He met me in Berkeley and delivered my set and Andy's (aoc007). They look great and after reviewing the preliminary instructions and seeing the bits and baubles in person, I think this will be a piece of cake to install.

Great to meet you Heath! And once again, THANK YOU (and Dan) for all your hard work on this project! Hopefully I'll be able to get the lights installed next week, but it will be some weeks before my rebuild is finished and I am on the road to be able to adjust them. I'll let you all know how it goes when it happens.

Reminding people that they shouldnt turn their headlights on to get them to pop up should be common sense but remember for every pop. distribution there are always people at the tail end of the curve LOL . Since the prices of FD's have dropped so much in the last couple years, I tried to make it as "handicap accessible" as possible I just imagined someone turning on their headlights, taking the battery cable off, hooking up the ballasts, and reconnecting the battery while holding the bulb socket with their tongue.

BTW if anyone wants to try that, I'll pony up for a free kit My only stipulation is that the prize is not transferable to your buddies, wife/girlfriend, or next of kin

Hey James it was really nice meeting you also! I forget how many bay area FD guys there are till I have to make the rounds. Lemme know when your car is finally done, I'd love to see it and your "secret intake pipe" setup .

Oh and Jeff (trispeed) it was great meeting you also! You have a PM, and dont forget to send me the link to the LED bumper lights.

I forget how many FD's there are in the Bay! Too bad there isnt a Bay Area version of 7 Stock....
-Heath

P.S. I also wanted to make sure to publicly thank girlunderground for all the hard work she put into nearly every aspect of making these lights from cutting housings, to helping assemble, aim, epoxy, and pack them. She busted her *** to make this whole process come together so I just wanted to say thank you for all your help and attention to detail. For all the hours you spent we probably owe you a snow white pearl mica RZ by now (the car she desperately wants). We'll have to start a fund for it (the help girlunderground get a white FD fund)

Guys, Dan drove up to NJ from Delaware today to help with the install of the lights.

I had my front bumper and front wheels removed already for another project I'm working on, which helped make the install a breeze. I'd say it took us maybe an hour. The hardest part was removing my old Catz reflector (low beam only) HIDs. Good riddance

What can I say other than the light output is astonishing. I've seen these in person and ridden in Dan's car so knew what to expect but I'm really excited to get the car on the road with these suckers. Definitely the best option out there for FD lighting, hands down

Awesome. Looking forward to getting them. We'll have to wait for a couple months though unfortunately to try them out.

Not sure what he is selling.. D2s Projector from the lexus? and clue them into an after market housing? Maybe they are getting the projectors from this site i found the other day.. The D2s projectors (bi xenon shutter) are roughly 180 ish and the bulbs and kit another 100. IMO so thats 280. Then you gotta buy the aftermarket housings that fit the fc or Fd and carve the back out thats 40 ish.. And slide the aftermarket projector in.. Thats all i can figure.. so he ads 600 to the original cost for puting it together. im sure he could do 6 -8 a day.. thats a pretty penny right their... This guy must be making a killin.

So try it yourself and see how much work and effort it takes to get it right and you'll put your name on the GB list. I know I have been there and it is not easy.
