won by 5 laps. I dunno guys, the rotary DOES kinda suck, they could have won by 10!
If we were in here talking about race records or if any of us participated in any of the races you cited, you might have a point. Otherwise your links are just as useless as mine. The only person in 300 posts of bitching who has said the rotary sucks is TT_Rotary (he doesn't know **** about them, or **** about a piston engine for that matter) and now you. All of the V8 guys on here have said in one form or another, "I respect a fast car no matter what the platform".

Welcome to yesterday.

i/c is in the front, t-56. and a STOCK 10 bolt with 3.42s. The car will have an automatic in it by spring through. 2 years ago on 17" nitto 555s through the 6 speed he went 11.2 at 146mph..on his old, much smaller 88mm turbo.

Shows how much you know.

over 22 Daytona victories for Mazda

3 out of the 4 major 24hr. race wins

over 100 IMSA titles and many more in the SCCA, NASA and other sanctioning body titles.

I'm sure your LS beast is powerful but once you actually use the motor for prolonged period of times, in a non-grandpa-ish manner, it doesn't hold up or COMPETE against the rotary. PERIOD. I mean, the LS2 GXP-R wasn't anywhere near the rotary.

I guess If you want to say a "minute man" is better cuz his **** is bigger then that's your point of view. In the end, you're wrong and people laugh at you.

You cannot base the true performance of a motor on amateurish drivers who just stomp on the gas and claim it's a BETTER CAR because they are faster. It just makes no sense. This has to be one of the worst LS vs. Rotary thread I've seen in over 5 years.

EDIT: For the record, I've never seen a nice video of an LS powered RX7 doing anything but straights or MILD turns. If you have them please post them. Well, I lie, I saw ONE but the guy wasn't driving very well and I can't blame the LS swap due to crappy drivers.

You HONESTLY believe a rotary short of a 100k+ race car will come even CLOSE to lasting half as long as a properly built LS1? Your out of your mind. There are so many 100k+mile LS1 cars out there that have been anally raped on a daily basis and they still run strong.

I'm on 200K on my original motor, what's your point? The reliability arguments most people use are not really accurate or substantiated anyways. The people who claim reliability problems tend to be the most ignorant people who either don't know what they're talking about, or can't take care of their cars (which is why the LS is great for them, drop it in, tune and forget about it.)

I beat the **** out of both the NA and TII but the difference between me and the other people is that I take care of my car. Hell My turbo just died (well, I killed it) and I'm doing an upgrade right now with over 90psi on each face per rotor. You abviously don't know about ceramic seals either, otherwise you'd know that the whole reliability crutch you all love to use will not be an issue within the next few years.

I have nothing againt the LS, hell, I've said it many times; if I wan't a rotary guy I'd be a chevy guy but you guys take the cake sometimes.

just thought id toss in my 2 cents. Sure cheap fast power, go ls1. However, out on the road tracks, I don't see LS1 FD posting any amazing times, breaking records, or "being the most reliable" You mod any car the right way, and know what your doing, your going to have a great running car. The rotary is far from the "junk" people say, personally I beleive its because their lack of experience with the motor, not that Im a rotary smarty pants. Ive seen PLENTY of ls1 car **** the bed, just as much as ive seen rotary cars. Its to each his own, I think any FD with over 550hp on the course is almost a waste unless your running HUGE tires. Which doesn't necessarily mean your fast

oh and the whole the V8 is light so its just the same. Come on, look at a conversion. A rotary mass of the rotary block sits very low and compact. Where as a v8 completely fills the engine bay, with alot of weight towards the top of the engine. So the aluminum blah blah is just that. blah blah

BTW, can someone please go serve turbotommy a slice of humble pie? Its amazing how he thinks he's the only person on the planet with a fast car, it will be priceless when someone with half the money into their car runs him down. Until then guess he'll have to stick to beating up on 16 year olds with stock camaros to make himself feel better.

Just curious, not knocking anything, but why arn't you running your combo lights? Would they not fit with your setup? didn't want them? haven't installed them yet?

Sponsors are: Classic Mazda of Orlando, Mazsport, RSpeed, Alchemy Autowerks, Prosport Guages. etc etc.

dude, don't even start this again. I've been hunting for answers to this for YEARS without any decent data from the V8 guys other than :"it's great, it works, handles just as weel, if not better, you're stupid for asking."

I took this into my own hands and I'm waiting for a local to finish his LS swap so we can do back to back testing. Braking, slalom, 1/4 mile (yeah, my measly 350hp might get owned), and then racetrack (local club will be going to Thunderhill in 2 weeks and other events throughout the year). Ask me this summer and I might have some real answers for you.

Oh My GOD, will this crap ever end?

The only LS1 guy talking crap here doesn’t even have one in his car and it has been proven over and over again that he doesn’t know what the hell he is talking about

This V8 vs. Rotary battle does not exist. I have yet to see anyone step up and prove themselves? Either do a friendly competition or let this die. Scott (2MCHPWR) and I are both on an email list of V8 and Rotary FD drivers and this crap NEVER happens between us.

Seriously – if you guys want to have a friendly LEGAL competition between Rotaries and V8s then there are auto-x events & track events all around here and Englishtown is right down the road.

Stop being morons and just get the competition over with. Bench racing does nothing and there are enough legal venues around NJ that you don’t have to risk innocent people’s lives by doing it on the street.

By all standards I have a mild LS1 swap done in mine, Scott’s and Snyper’s are both more aggressive. Pick your poison.

BUT – until something gets hashed out then let it be and quiet down. If you aren’t mature enough to come out and have some fun and end this then you shouldn’t be talking.

I want to enjoy my time on this forum without all this stupidity.

That's why I'm waiting for the local to finish his swap, plus you're too far.

Post it in your local forum and get it done. FD Vs. FD I want to see it.

Please don't forget to take into account the differences in driver skill. 2MCHPWR is probably one of the only great drivers that actually races his LS1FD often. He has run many an event and compared favorably against the mighty Porsche GT3. Stop looking at the motor as a change to the entire vehicle. It's just a power-delivery mechanism. It doesn't upset the many great characteristics of the FD chassis.
I too would like to see a skilled/seasoned racer put into the driver seats of a "stock" rotary powered FD and a "stock" LS1 powered FD, but I doubt that will ever happen. Comparing similar power-level FD's is still not equal as I'm sure that having more "power under the curve" will yield better results in most situations.
Anyway, just throwing in my quick 2 cents.

There are enough NJ people on here to do this.

Rotary
- Goodfella - Rich, I know you would be down for this
- turbotommy is in NJ and apparently wants to race
- dwrx7 is also in NJ

LS1
- su_maverick - I am willing to meet up with any of you but this is a friendly competition so keep the drama down
- 2MCHPWR - Scott is always at auto-x events and some track days so Im sure he is willing
- Snyper - he has said he could come down

I cant vouch for everyone but this should happen so people will stop behaving like children. The rotary is not a hand grenade waiting to blow and the LS motors are not knuckle dragging straight line machines. Just because some of you need to feel like you belong to this exclusive club doesnt give you the right to bash others for making another choice (this applies to rotary & v8 owners).

Lets stop talking and set it up.

When? Where? What?

yes, do it. I've been dying to see the LS vs. 13B being tested thoroughly for a long time!

You have a very good point.

Honestly, if there is a driver that both car owners can agree on, I would be willing to let someone drive my car for the comparisson so that you could test it one on one. In terms of modifications, my motor is stock and would be comparible to a small single rotary.

Hopefully this materializes and doesnt turn into more armchair battling which does nothing.

This is getting very old.
