Sh*t i hope so...maybe we can forge an alliance in the heat of all this. lol

I mean neither one of you have the engine that came in the car from the factory so relish in that fact and race for fun too....hopefully both of you 2 will be mature when the time comes and maybe give each other a ride in your cars (ON VIDEO) and comment on the differences.

I'm very bored at work and about to doze off. eek

Btw you both have sik cars....one for sure and the other will hopefully be too upon completion.

Btw...i'm going to the darkside too.

sweet, I unsubscribed and didn't see these. Gonna see them at home.

I guess you gotta get the bullshit out of the way (from both our sides) before any real info gets talked about.

It seems the thread I have started will live out its purpose to have good car tech talk about both sides views, opinions and facts.
It was kind of silly for us to be having the fd, fc etc and acting like a bunch of children.
I was viewing the thread and thinking to my self wow, This is like a gang war almost. We fight over the same thing, kill each other, (not literally) bitch each other out etc etc. Then when we get it in our hands the only difference is the way we run the damn thing. Well keeping in mind different set ups and what not.

I think it would be bad *** for every body to have meets and get togethers. No rotarys over here and V8s over there kind of meets though. Every car would be mixed and people can talk about thier views on why they went with thier set up. If you all think about it we are a small group of people in comparison to the rest of the car industry. I could go on here for days typing away but I know you all get the point. 1 brother hood in my eyes.

Was it just me or did that car keep going too wide and was off the throttle too much?

this guy is good.

i think a rotary would have been able to get on the throttle a lot sooner than this car. could be just me.

a rotary powered car could have been on the gas WOT earlier than the v8 in this vid too, no?

The first link sucks ***!!! it shows nothing!! He's being slowed down by traffic most of the video and the few times he had the track by himself at the turns the VIDEO CUT OUT BEFORE THE TURN!!!

Video 2: around 1:20 you can see him take a turn. Looks awkward to me and he could have been WOT earlier in a rotary. Keep watching for sections where he is by himself. he can at least get on the gas and begin exiting a tad earlier in a rotary.

The sound is like sex but knowing it's in a 7 makes baby jesus

I know I can't blame it 100% on the cars but that's what popped out at me.

wow, I just now see this thread.... let me shed a little light on this so you guys can see where my son is coming from... No, he doesnt' turn a wrench but wants to learn.... Yes I turn a wrench for a living....

I did a lot of research on either building his rotary up, or doing the ls1 conversion. We have experience with the LS1 cars and know them well, (which may have swayed me a bit) but from what I've read/seen the rotaries just don't last at all!!! yet a BEATEN on ls1 will go 150-200k. That is what made us decide to do the swap.
Now, the 5.3 IS an LSX motor, just a tad smaller piston and a steel block, many racers bore the block to use stock LS1 pistons. swap intake/accesories and add a decent cam and you have a stout motor cheap! The 5.3's sell for about $3-500 in wrecking yards vs the ls1's, we have about $1000 in the 5.3 intake, fuel rails, t56,bellhousing,clutch,etc. (yes we know people) and $1200 in hinsons kit.... our friend was charging 2k for all the labor so at $4500 we had about 5k for any other parts needed... (we also have many misc parts for it like cam/springs/aeromotive stuff etc, all in the $1k spent so far)
That was how we were doing it fairly cheap...

Now for the unfortunate news.. My friend who was going to do this starting last Sunday. Sat. night he passed away. I am more than capable of pulling it off, but I'd be doing it almost by myself, and with a business and my own hot-rods, I really don't wanna start another project on week-ends and after-hours and take 2 years doing it....

Cut him a little slack... kids are very opinionated also i think everyone here is on a "budget" if you aren't then you probably aren't building your own anyway... He has saved his cash to do this, (which at his age is a feat in itself if you look at other kids, or like when I was his age i couldn't save my *** let along $20k)

I hope this shed a little light on the subject I didn't read all 18 pages but I got the idea of what's going on here....

Wow...nice conversion. I've been gone awhile...but just checking out some alternatives. It's been a relatively informative topic.

as a person that works at a rotary/RX-7 shop, i can respect a clean LSX swap. by far not my cup of tea but i love the rotary, a properly built 13B will run issue free for years. my motor was built in 2004 and still pulls great compression and puts out great power, like said in many threads before and in this one its all in the build and tune. with any motor a shitty build/tune will result in a blown motor period. there is a guy in town with a LS1 swap and hes a cool guy but there are still plenty of rotary powered FD's that will out run him all day and still make it home issue free. sure the LSX makes more torque than a 13B that is no doubt, but i like the feel of a rotary powered one any day over a piston powered one.
