4.6L Swap Questions
Well I have a few question regarding my 91 Rx7 Vert.
I have been looking into all the different conversions kits they have for the Ford 5.0 and the Ls engines and I was wondering,
has anyone heard of someone doing a Ford Mustang GT 4.6L Swap. A 1999-2004 Motor.
Because I have a 4.6 in my Mustang right now that I am about to pull and wanted to know if it would fit or what not?
Has anyone had any success with it?
Is it even possible?
Is there any motor mounts or anything out there for this?
Please help with any info

I'm doin it, haven't found a mount kit for it so I'm just making them. I'm just about to get my clutch and flywheel then setting it in the car in the next few weeks. I did a 5.0 swap a year back and it was easy. The only issue I'm seeing with the 4.6 is the oil pan is super tall but I'm probably going to make a custom one. My 4.6 is out of a tbird, swaping to P.I heads and intake along with full forged internals then slaping a set of twins on it for ***** and giggles. When I did my measurements the rx7 frame rail distance was greater than that of the tbird and so was the strut tower distance, only thing lacking was the subframe to hood clearence which is easy to fix by lowering the subframe and or going with a different hood/cutting the supports. Good luck with yours

Please post up as many pics as you can. I'm sick of guys saying this can't be done and yet...some how... your doing it. Post the pics and quite all the naysayers.
I look forward to your updates.

Of course it is possible - someone put a Ford 460 in a 1st gen. But that does not make it a good idea. The 5.0 installation is much smaller, fits so well and all the pieces are available, plus the engines are so readily available for cheap prices, I personally would not be too much influenced by the fact that you have the engine.
I really enjoy driving my 5.0 car, but if I had it to do again I would put in a turbocharged 4 banger, probably a Sylvia motor, and get similar performance with much better fuel mileage. I get 18 mpg, no doubt I could get 20 if wanted to play with the jetting a bit more. With a fuel injected motor, you could do a little better. Fuel prices are going to go up as the economy recovers, and you can bet they will stay up.
