Opion on rollbar/cages for FD
I am looking to purchase either a 4pt or 6pt rollbar for street and drag use. Does anybody have any recommendations and or opinions regarding looks, installations, price, comfort, etc. Any feedbacks is appreciated. Oh and if you know of any sites, please provide the links.
Thanks
Scott

I suggest you look at www.m2performance.com
They are somewhat local to you...in concord
and it looks like they have a lot of different setup with their bars..

Kirk Racing sells 4 point rollbar for the FD. I believe they have two different models. I have the one where the front 2 anchoring points are just in front of the rear bins. They cost about $350. Fairly easy to install.

I've only seen the Cusco 6 point cage, it's very nice, but the front bar comes into contact with the wiper control stalk, so you have to modify it. Since we're discussing expensive roll bars, what about the R.E. Amemiya version. It looks very solid, and supposedly is F.I.A. approved. I wonder how much it would cost?

i never got an exact weight for the autopower bar, but from picking it up, im guessin just about 50 lbs +-5.
the seat travel for the driver is ok. i goes almost all the way back. but the passenger side just sucks. id say it can go back at least 5-6 more inches. what you see in the picture is all the way back for the passenger seat.

seat travel in the kirk is terrible. I'm 5'8 and can't get comfortable. The passanger side is worse. I've driven and ridden in a car with the M2 and it's much MUCH better. If you really want the kirk, drop me an email. My friend's car recently burned to the ground so he will be selling it soon(no damage to the rollcage).

Your relative comfort with the Kirk bar depends on your preferred seat position. I'm 5'9" and have no problem. I sat in a car with the Kirk bar before I bought it to make sure I would fit. Kirk also sells a bar that eliminates the storage bins but retains full seat movement. This might be an option for taller people.
The M2 is a nice bar but VERY expensive. Configured the way I wanted it would have been
over $1000. The Kirk bar is about $350.

true, if you positiion the backsupport in a very upright position there is more room, but I prefer to tilt it back to get more distance from the steering wheel. I suggest you sit in a car with both before purchasing.

im test fitting the 6pt cusco roll cage in my car and ill let you guys know about the seat travel too. yes my car is touring and yes the cusco fits in it. take it from expierence, not from what people have heard.

with the cusco completely installed i had to eventually use a torch to heat the bars to bend the passanger lower side to look like the driver and visa versa. but it does clear the sunroof and i lost about 5 to 10% seat travel. it was worth it to me but it might not be worth the trouble to you. ill post pics as soon as i get them.
