Need Opions of PFS PMC Users
I currently have this configuration:
'94 white, base, pep, red leather,
mods: street port & polished stage II, Hurley racing seals, upgraded coolant seals, PFS PMC, XS T04e single turbo kit, SMIC (400+cu.in.), Aquamist 2s water injection kit, Pettit ss resonated MP, Pettit ss cat-back, RP Racing fuel pump, 1200cc injectors, Profec B(10&15psi), Centerforce clutch, under pulley kit(no air pump), Pettit short shifter kit, boost gauge, LaBreck's bushings, Evans Coolant http://nopistons.com/luv94rx7.html
My car is at KDR and should be done in the next two weeks. I need to know from owners of the PFS PMC their opions of this unit both good and bad. I was the starter of the AEM EMS group buy but it looks like AEM has delivery problems. They are giving us a fluffy end of May date and it is not firm. If the PFS PMC is good enough then I'm not going to wait for a date that is not firm. If the AEM EMS is going to be tons better then I might consider waiting even though it could be months.
So all you users of this product can help me make an informed decision.
Thanx in advance for your thoughts.
Ken

I think your best opinion will probably come from DAve at KDR. He is familiar with and tunes both PMC and PFC.
(yeah, you said AEM, but PFC is the closest living example) -
I have a PFS PMC and am happy with it. I went with the PMC cause I couldn't afford the PFC and controller at the time.
After playing with the PMC for about a year now, I am pretty happy with it. Bottom line:
Pros:
-You can get them relatively cheap ($400-500) with controller and even ACQ datalog software
-It gets the job done
-Easy to tune
Cons:
-Piggyback - basic logic says that a standalone will be "smoother",
-8 bit vs. 16
-some people find the 3K hesistation amplified by the unit. I did. BUT, I unplugged it and plugged it back and the issue was cleared. I do not have a 3K problem at all
Here is the way I look at it. Your car is done. If you wait for AEM, it could be damn Sept. before you drive it- who the hell could wait that long! Obviously with AEM or PFC you have more control over more items - but to what end. I mean, in my opinion, what the AEM can do is almost overwhelming.
If I were you, depending on how much you want to spend, get the PMC or the PFC, have DAve tune it on the dyno with a wideband, and drive off happy. When the AEM comes out, if you really want it, put whatever you end up with for sale, buy the AEM and go from there.
If I had the moeny and no ECU now, I would probably go PFC, jsut cause EVERYONE says it is SO smooth with the PFC.
BUT, I have the PMC and an happy with it, and unless a good deal comes around, will probably just stick with it. My car runs as smooth as any, and I've got enough fuel and timing control to run 14psi.
good luck
