That was just a rough estimate because I was not there to take the actual measurements.
It maybe closer it maybe larger. Personally I wouldn’t go any closer than 3/16” (.1875).

would 18 x 8,5 fit in front with a 225 tire? wich offset do i need to make it fit without having to roll the fenders or rub my shocks?

my turbo II has stock springs but in the future i will be getting aftermarket stuff and taking it a little bit lower... will this be a problem?

 

8.5" will not fit without sticking out past the fenders.
Don’t run a 225 on an 8.5" it will be stretched to much. I have 235 on an 8.5" wheel on my Audi and it is stretched a lot.

A 225 isn't stretched that bad on an 8.5. It is stretched a little, but really as I've said ya can't really run much more than a 225 up front anyway unless your offset is spot on so get an 8" or something like that..

 

i was just wondering....has anyone ever bought spacers and taken them to a machine shop and had them lapped or whatever u want to call it to make it slightly a smaller spacer size? i want hub centric spacers and the only real things im finding are the h&r ones which only come in 15mm and i would really need to at the most have 5mm taken off.

 

I've redone my Rims page to reflect most of the popular rim widths up to 10.5".
I've also added most of the wider tire sizes up to 18" on the Tires page to reflect speedo error %.

Front = 17"x8" 30mm (225/55)
Rear = 17"x 9" 35mm (what size you think)

I'd run a 235/45 on the front and a 255/40 on the rear.

No, it would be the same over all diameter if you use a 55 it will look like a 4x4 truck.

You need to look here for example:
Look at the column for over all dia. and compare the stock 16" tires to 17" tires.

i was thinking about getting 18inch, 8,5J in front and 9,5J in the back, with a set of coilovers (don't have m yet)

according to ReTed's list (thank you!!!) i need an offset of 25 in front and back (recommended offset).

what tire sizes should i get to make it fit properly without any rubbing or overfenders? (or maybe i can take somewhat higher offset)
i was thinking 225 in front and 255 in back but what about the height?

just making sure, cause i dont want to pay a lot of money for something that wont fit...
here in holland people dont make such a fuss about wheels and if you want something specific for your car you need to go offshore (mostly USA) and this is a pricey thing to do!

I have various tire sizes and comparison to stock.
I would highly recommend sticking with the stock diameters, as this doesn't chane suspension dynamics and / or speedo error that much.

The section only goes up to 18" right now.

if i compare with your list there will be a slight difference...
225/35/18 front: -2,73%
255/40/18 rear: 4,67%

what will i notice with these tires? my stock speedo is about 5-6 km/h higher then the real thing... will this difference be any more or will it be less?

 

If I did the math right, the increase in circumference will also indicate the increase (or decrease) in speed relative to the speedo display.

-2,73% will equal to vehicle speed slower by 2,73% versus speedo display.
(+)4,67% will equal to vehicle speed faster by 4,67% versus speedo display.

Both are still okay, as my rule of thumb is either + or - 5%.
Personally, I'd take the 225 / 40 / 18 size as a better comparison with stock wheels.

damn... all of the wheels i find, aren't available with the right offset
once again here in holland it is very difficult to find some wheels that will fit!

is a 15mm spacer a risky thing to do?
i'm not using the car for sprints or drag or anything, just plain cruisin'

 

and if i use spacers it's better to use the ones with the right diameter instead of universal ones...

what is the hub diameter of my FC?
