Thanks to posters like NoPistons! who really make fitment much less of a chore. I've always thought this should be one of those things that is openly shared, nobody is so epic that their specs need to be kept *secret*. Maybe you guys don't get that a lot here but I used to see it on some honda forums and it bugged me...



After some more perusing I've decided on 15mm spacers, rather than 20mm.

I'm also fairly certain I'm going to go with rear overs, rather than pulling/flaring. I may have some bondo work and don't want to risk screwing with that really.

Final specs will be 18x10.5 +2 on all four corners, tires being 245/35/18 if I can find them. More research tonight when I have time, in the mean time I have to pick up another set of coilovers

 

sick whats your current suspension on the vert matt?

by psm i meant part shop max cause im gonna be drifting the vert

 

OEM right now, my car is bone stock.

I'll probably pick up some more Tein HA or something along those lines some time soon.

Enough senseless word clutter, I won't be posting here again until I've got something worthwhile to show for.

Yes, they will fit. you have to make them. Stretch helps heaps to. Like a 185/50 or 205 45.... Would have been way better sizes to run, IMO


205/40 on a 17x9.5 +15 front. Talk ****. Dont care.












My rears are sitting in my room..... Settle for nasty pics of my front end on my project car for a little while. I'm going to add a 5-7mm slip-on later.

P.S. The 205/55's i ran on my 16x8 0's with ultra ugly pull sat about an inch and a half higher than this setup and my tires were hitting the body of the car bad under very slight compression. It was uber gay and caused me to spin out a couple of times while drifting.

 

i was looking at getting some 18's by 9.5 for my 88 the car will have a full coilover kit what am i looking at tire hight and width and offset as far as all that goes.
im new to the rx7 scene grew up and moved away from hondas.

There is tons of good and shitty offset/fitment in this thread to help you out. If you run 18's, i recommend 35-40 series sidewalls.

Width will depend largely on what you are using the car for and how it's set up and how cheap a tire you use.

A 215 40 dunlop, toyo r888, falken rt615 is going to **** all over a kuhmo/sumitomo/riken/diamondback/insert cheep chiny tire here in the same size. Something to take into consideration.

I dont want to say it's rocket science but there is a "science" to it. Soo many variables....

Maybe some people like tires that grip as opposed to be stretched so thin the rims rub the ground on corners.

 

245 40 17 should fit depending on the offset.

235 40 17 might be a better choice though.

 

Still a 225 is more than enough. Whatev.

 

So i want to space out my wheels (17x8 +35 all around) and I'm not sure what size I should go with. 10mm is the max, but that seems like a waste of money almost. Was thinking maybe a 15mm or 20mm.

Also want to upgrade the rears (same wheels , just a 17x9 +35). Thoughts on spacer sizes, and where to buy?

Well, my 16x7.5 +30 with 245/45-16 fit on FCs with stock and stock style lowering springs as well as coilovers.

Stock springs and alignment and you have about 1/2" of tire sticking out past the fender but it just clears the springs on the inside.

Stock style lowering springs with a camber plater upper mount and negative camber fit with front fenders rolled out. You can't get race alignment as large stock spring mount hits the chassis.

Coilovers with race alignment (1.75-3 deg neg camber) fits with stock front fender with just lip rolled under.

Why would you want a 245 on a 7.5 o_O

In my case the 245/45-16 RA-1 offered more grip than the 225-50-16 RA-1, though it did certainly have more of a mushy feel on steering input.

 

Camber your wheels so the full contact patch is being used during cornering and the rim wont rub the ground.

Run chicken **** ff camber and yeah, it'll hit the ground.

Sure, run a tire that wide on that rim.

Enjoy the **** out of the sidewall rolling onto the ground when you turn.

PS, i ran a max of 215 50 on a 16x7.5 f on my dsm and a 225 50 rear on a 16x7.5 and it was damn near perfect. Neither tire was stretched at all and the rim protector on my feddys actually did it's job on the rears. I STILL had problems with the car rolling onto the sidewall during HARD cornering, even with a smidge of negative camber in the rear and about 2* up front. Never lost grip with that setup but it still made me nervous.

 

i guess i was wondering because i can get some cheap...

The wheels are 35mm offset, will that still make them collide with the front fenders?

So running a tire that is made for a rim that is 2 inches narrower than what you have does not make you nervous but running appropriate sized tires for a given rim makes you nervous although you "never lost grip" with that setup? Just checking...

 

well of course 225/50/16 is going to feel like ****, that sidewall rivals skyscrapers.

 

Will 17x8 +35 and 17x9 +35 fit perfectly? What tires are the best for these size?
Im using KYB shocks and Tein S-Tech springs

it's a different kind of nervous though. Trust me, when i can buy overfenders, i WILL be going with a 225 all the way around. This was a money/clearance issue and it worked out. I'm curious as to where the grip limits up front are but i guess i'll find out soon.

I DO NOT recommend this tire/wheel setup at all for your average car.

Posted these a while back but recently threw them back on at a lower, more aggressive stance (and new color)

18x9 +1 225/40 all around. Light pull/roll on all corners.

Front camber is maxed out and the left front rubs while turning right, and only right.

I will be throwing 215/40s on the front when these get too bald.
