Fronts may need a small spacer. Rears will be fine.

For the tire size, I would recommend 225/40/18 F 255/35/18 R

No fender rolling needed

Any idea what sizes fit under the AWR Body Work? I know the EP rules limit them a bit, but what about DOT-Rs for running SCCA ITE or NASA STx?

How would a 17x9 +30 with 225/45 toyo r888 fit in front? I currently have 17x8 +37 and they are nearly hitting the coilover. So a 9 inch with +30 should hit pretty bad? How do you make them fit?

I also have 30mm wider rear fenders. Would a 17x9,5 +12 fit nice?

Hi guys

I have questions on two sets of wheels
First
I am looking at a staggered set up for my FC and here is what I have so far

FRONT:
18x8.5 +35mm
225/40/18 Falken 512

REAR:
18x9.5 +35mm
265/35/18 Falken 512

Great deal on these rims. Does anyone have pictures of wheels like these mounted?
According to RETed's link (http://fc3spro.com/TECH/MODS/RT/rims.htm) these rims would fit in the front with a 5mm spacer. Would I need to roll my fender? (Really don't want to!)

Second
The second rims are the TSW Indy 500s I love these wheels.
The only offsets they have are +40 and +20

so here is what I was thinking
FRONT:
18x8 +40mm (add 5mm spacer)
225/40/18 Falken 512

REAR:
18x9.5 +20mm
265/35/18 Falken 512

-Same question as above....will the fronts fit ok?
-Will my wheels look odd with one being a +40mm and the other being +20mm?
-Instead of getting the +40mm front I could get the +20mm front, but that would stick out past the fenders wouldn't it?
-Would a 225 tire on a 8.5 inch rim be stretched?

Thanks guys!

You might be able to get away without rolling the front fenders with enough camber.

The rears should be fine.

The +40(with 5mm spacer) offset front wheels would fit without rolling. The +20 ones would need a roll.

The rears will need a roll.

You'll need at least a 1/4" spacer to clear the coilovers.

I don't know about the way it would look, but they will fit inside the 30mm fenders.

What size tires are you running and what mods did you do to the front?

How much space do you have between the strut housing and rim/tire?

Do you have a straight on pic of the front of the car or a pic with the wheels not turned?

dont really have a pic of the fronts from a straight, i dont have an adequate camera for that.

17x9.5 +15
225/45 17
all around.

in the front there's about a peice of paper's amount of space between wheel and coils. front fenders require a serious pull, rears only need rolling. granted, i am running about -2.5* camber in front and rear (no rear camber adjustment link)

Thanks for the reply 90FC. I actually tried a set of 18 x 9 +35 with a 5mm spacer yesterday, guess that makes it a +30 ? And it just cleared the coilover, but it should hit it when turning. So im thinking maybe a 17 x 9 +25 would work but im not shure it will clear the front fender without stretching it?

Anyone running 17 x 9 +25 up front? If so, what size tire?

or, take your stock/current tire size and go

http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

for some reason the 1010tires site is coming up not found for me right now though..

Well, let me explain why most people here try to run as close to the stock +40 offset as possible while still trying to the widest tires they can under the fenders.

Scrub radius, bumpsteer, suspension travel and contact patch.

They bought the RX-7 because for its performance and they are trying to get more performance by upgrading the wheels and tires.

They don't care how cool you think it looks with flush fitment and stretched tires, they just want to go fast.

ugh, typical rx7 response.

drifters actually tune their suspensions too, ya know. there's a reason why even some pro's run stretch, and flush fitment. wheel/tire game is part of the setup, but its all about preference.

i can tell you my car drives A LOT better on lightweight 17x9.5's than it did on my old 17x8's, same tire sizes.

Yes, I got it.

drifting= looking cool

racing= going fast

I was just explaining to you that most RX-7 enthusiasts want to go fast, not look cool. That is why we all don't run your low offset rims.

I am sure that I will like my 17x9.5 as well next season, with stock +40 offset and 275/40 NT01.

Drift that set up and you will pass the lead in your Tsuiso battles as you will carry higher corner speeds.

So, are Tsuiso battle finals drifting or racing? I guess it is racing with the handicap of maintaining a drift or being disqualified.

Yes, yes he does get it.

Proper wheels/tires/offset = go fast. Blue knows his **** when it comes to going fast.

Doritoing = having fun. You may know how to have fun but I would wager that if Blue set up a car, had a third party driver run a lap, then you setup a car, and had the same driver run the same lap, Blues setup would be faster. <- That's a period. Meaning in this case, the discussion is ended.
