Water to air and air to air

Here is a pic of water to air I/C im using it as a precooler as I have my Front mount also. I can also chill the water /glycol mix.Im using a FC oil cooler as a heat exchanger and a bssch pump. Still in process of breaking the engine in but until the temp sender gets heat soaked I rigt at ambiant temp.
Oh Its a REW in a FC lots of mods

Interesting idea....hows the pressure drop across both cores? Have you measured it?

Fairly well known across here the PWR cores are not exactly efficient in their design, a lack of turbulators, etc...(Not to mention the build quality issues they seem to be having) so would be really interested in some measurements in temps / pressure.

I am building a completely custom W2A setup for my FD..to hopefully hold temps stable with a HKS T51R running 35+psi...hence my genuine interest.

I may have to check the pressure drop. Im only 900 miles into a rebuild so I have only sporaticly boosted and still at 5k or less and yes I was under 4k for first 850 miles And I thought PWR was good stuff .
And thanks for posting

I still cannot understand why guys go through all that fuss for cooling when water or methanol injection will get it done BETTER , and also give you a lot more resistance to detonation.

Are you recommending no intercooler at all?

For the record Im running a coolingmist water /meth setup I typcally run a 50/50 mix

and its really no fuss at all

Wouldn't the water/air IC potentially work much better placed after the air/air IC? My reasoning is that the water/air IC potentially has a much higher efficiency than the air/air, so the air/air IC may actually act as a heater when you are using chilled water. Also, it would be preferable to let the air/air do most of the initial charge cooling, and let the water/air IC further cool the temps so your coolant will not get heat soaked as quickly.

And I would agree with you. It would have been optimal to install it after the air I/C. But space, angle and ease of installation, influenced my decision. Im thinking the water I/C will take the brunt of the heat off the turbo . It seems to be working well I need to get it broke in all the way and then post some numbers.
