Turbo Sizing

Well i have finally got to the stage on my pp 12a turbo engine to start looking for a turbo. I am looking for a turbo that will run best between 15-25 psi. Any turbo suggestions? also would this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MakeTrack=true turbo be close to the right size?

Well the goal is ten hp per cubic inch, so i would be happy with 700.

master power? i haven't seen one of those maxed out, but 500whp @ 20-someodd psi on a 13b makes me think it's a bit too small. that turbo you posted looks like it'll do the trick, but i can't tell you what the lag is gonna be like--i don't do a lot of 12a stuff.

Here was the gt45 i was talking about http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GT45-...QQcmdZViewItem

As for lag with that monster t6 turbo, are we talking boost comming up around 5 grand, or more like 7 or 8? I would like to keep it under 10,500-11,000 rpm.

if your happy with that kind of lag then a gt42 or gt45 would work well for your goals. hks use the gt42 turbine option in there t51 turbos but they have a smaller turbine trim than that found in most garrett gt42's so it has much better responce and is more streetable.

give me a pm for some masterpower turbos suitable for your requirements

I had a TA45 on my bridgeported 12a. It was pretty laggy. Full boost was at about 6500rpm (25 psi). It was only a journal bearing turbo though not a roller. Most big horsepower 12a's in australia run GT42's. Thats what I would recommend for you.

^^^^What were the specs on that TA45...turbine a/r, compressor a/r, and trim? I bought a semi turbo off of ebay couple months back, it has a 1.32 a/r hotside with a t6 thumper flange and a .75 a/r compressor with a 55 trim. People tell me I would be able to spool it before 5000 on my bridged 13b but I question that.

Compressor was .60 A/R, turbine was a TO4 1.15 A/R I had modified to suit the much larger wheel.

Comp wheel was 2.992/4.015.

Exhaust wheel was 3.031/3.425

I tired the standard exhaust wheel first and then had it clipped the second time around. It made it a little lazier being clipped but resulted in more hp at less boost.

Here is a pic of the turbo compared to my T66,
