UPDATE:

I've had the 42 on for a few weeks now and made a few events. My best time was one 10sec pass and everything else in the 11's or even 12's. I have not gotten one clean pass and the car is a lot harder to drive with the HP. I am only commenting on the GT42 (journal bearing) 76mm front, 1.01 back.

The car is running in the low 11s Air fuels and coming up on boost is in the low 11s-mid 11s area. Here are some of the things I am experiencing.

First the clutch started slipping. Fixed that.
Next tranny broke in 3rd gear. Fixed that.
Now the other tranny is making noise in 3rd and gave issues at rotorfest.

The car is harder to drive because if you let the car slip below the powerband, when you start accelerating it starts pulling hard as you go up on boost. Also if that happens since its a bigger turbo, it takes time to spool and by that time its kinda too late.

I have not gotten a chance to make a full pass where I did not have to let off for one reason or another or breaking something or a bad launch. I've been working on the launching (without the 2step) and now I am getting consistent low 1.6 60ft times, not the best but at least not bogging. If I take too long to shift, the turbo falls off and then you start all over again.

I'll be testing again this friday so we'll see how it goes.

Just an update...

Anthony

You'll get it. Just keep at it. Obviously that 10.8 @ 111 would've been much better if you didn't have any problems.

Anthony, what didn't you like about the T88 GK?
I'm currently looking to upgrade from a HKS TA45 to either a GT42R, T88 GK38 or below or a T04Z, since you've had a few of these I wondered if you wouldn't mind posting up your thoughts (sorry if its a bit off topic).

Initial, I had the T88 34D and loved that turbo. It started smoking and rather than getting it rebuilt I opted to switch. I think Dan Schecter is running the GK but not 100% sure. I like Greddy turbos since they are very durable. Most of my friends are running the greddy turbos for a long time with no issues. I would say the T88 34D is a really nice step up from a smaller single before going with a larger turbo like the GT42. The T88 will make 600HP, get you into the 10s really easily, easy to drive, nice spool up.

Time to spray!

BTW what turbine housing do you have on the 42? Is it a T4 or a T6, 1.15 a/r?

Good numbers anthony. What fuel did you use and what timing @ 32psi. also what turbo 74 or gt4276. We used the 76 and it spools late. Ralph

Been away for a while on vaca, back now. I had some issues getting the car to go straight so I would have to let off. I was not suspension as I thought or boost kicking in but it turns out to be a bad Kaaz rear. I'm going to take apart this week so I will know how many of the clutches are bad or what is wrong with them.

Ralph, Fuel was C16 and timing was 18degress 18psi. It's a gt4276 and mine spools pretty late too.

Bryan, I have the 1.01 but on a T6 flange. I have the greddy manifold that uses a T4 flange but my friend Tony from TandR made a really nice looking/flowing adapter so I could save on the cost of a new manifold. It's a T6 to T4 adapter.

As for the radiator, it's small but flows well. It's a double pass, I got it at summit racing for under $200. I drive it on the street on weekends, went to brooklyn this weekend to check out the OLD racing spots!

I'm changing the rear and will take pics of the inside of a kaaz when I change the clutches. Ernie, see you at the next etown event.

Nice numbers Anthony! My friend Andreas here in Sweden has a 13B REW engine with a Greddy T78 turbo and a large streetport. He is making around 530 hp@7300 rpm at 15-16 psi at cranc on my Rototest. How much hp do you think the T78 can make on E85?
