how much boost?
how much boost?
hi!
My recently purchased FD is booked in for a dyno tune on wednesday, and I'm a bit confused as to what sort of boost I can run on the street. The turbo is a hks t04r, and the management is PowerFC. The best pump fuel we can get here in australia is 98 octane. The car is currently running 0.8bar and pulls ok, but it feels like it could do with a lot more in the top end. Anyone know what a safe boost limit is??
thanks,
rob.

yeh a few people seem to say around 15psi (~1bar) is safe-ish on pump fuel...
i dunno what injectors are in it, i guess i'll find out on the dyno! all i know is that its got a sard fuel pump..

Hey dougie, how is the scene over in tracy
Went there a couple months ago, was crazy!
Don't mean to jack your thread, I run 1 bar on 91 with about 15* of advance at 1bar, no audible knock or telltale power loss

My setup is similar to yours:
90 TII streetport engine
KKK turbo
FMIC
720/1600

Seems like with the correct timing you could run more boost on the street... there two guys on in the 3rd gen section that i know of that are running 18psi on the stock turbos, which most likely put out a lot more heat than the large-ish to4r.

Seems to me that most FD guys run a lot more boost, even on the street than FC's.
Any ideas on engine life, running 18-20 psi...???
