Ok, no offense implied here....
I've just seen too many RX7s bent around trees etc...

Spyder420 -- I think the MR2 Spyder is a great car, but the FD is definitely not the same. Why not get a clean FD and drive it around for a bit, and then decide what path to take -- and get used to the car and the way it drives. I can't imagine a 600 RWHP RX7 would be ... "easy" to drive around on the streets.

Anyways, like I said earlier, no offense intended, i'm sure you are an awesome driver etc etc etc...

I think the quote was for a few hours of dyno tuning, which is definitely worth the money considering all the money you have to spend on parts. That isn't just a dyno run -- the shop tunes the car with a wideband O2 sensor and whatever else they like to use. I would bet the tuning session will be by far the biggest bang for the buck item on the purchase list. I spent several hundred on tuning at XS and got 27 RWHP or so. That is WAY less expensive than parts. Also, I can mash the throttle with some confidence that the A/F ratio will be correct, which is worth a lot to me, especially considering how much I spent on the parts. Don't skimp on tuning.

My advice on PowerFC tuning for single turbos:
- If you live near XS, take the car there for tuning.
- If you don't, send the PowerFC to XS to get a new basic injection map and then get it dyno tuned locally.

XS is the only U.S. shop that has the PowerExcel software to change the basic injection map (AFAIK). Without changing that, your tuning via the Commander will be a compromise.

Are 1200cc secondaries the best bet for the Apexi kit?

Thanks

Enlarged stock-style secondaries are a good choice for the A'PEXi kit. I run 1300s, and you can always raise the fuel pressure a bit if you run out of injector.

I made a web page that helps you determine what injectors and fuel pump you need:
