512rwhp 4094 dyno..

Well I got my shitty Bosch sensor working and headed down to the dyno tonight. My goal was to break 500rwhp. So 22 psi made 440hp and 26psi got 512hp. Running 110gas.

I would post torque but the graph goes blank everytime I try to add it. I will have the shop resend if anyone cares to see.. Runing 18 degrees leading and 12 trailing.

I am sure it has more in it as Asleep made right at 500 with 21 psi. on his 4094. I am still learning a ton when it comes to tuning. These is basically a map from BDC on my old 40r with me cleaning up the A/R's.. Left timing alone for now.

If you are using a DynoJet without the eddy current brake you'll want to do your tuning in 4th or 5 th gear. Using 3rd you end up sweeping through the rev range too quick which can make your tune appear to be good, but you could actually have a spot that is too rich or too lean that is masked by the surrounding load cells. The race gas is good insurance when you are trying to get everything smoothed out. Everybody starts somewhere, nice to see you learning the "ropes" just be careful and take your time.

Wow Mikey, nice work! I am not sure of the break-up up high but one part of me thinks it might not hurt to pull a degree or two out up on the very high end of where you're at. Also, when you say 12 trailing do you mean the split is 12* or is 12*BTDC, with a 6* split? I'll have to check the map out here.

Anybody else notice the 72hp jump from 22 to 26psi? Mike do you know what power it made at 15psi by chance?

first off, let me extend my congratulations on the numbers. however, do i seem to sense some traces of disappointment? maybe just reading too much into things ...

anyway, i'm sure time and patience will get you where you want to be. good luck with it.

Ray,
Thanks for the advice and that makes perfect sense to me.. I was going to do some more 4th gear pulls but my WB kept craping out and I would have to let it cool down, recal. it then start again. I did mix in a 4th gear pull here and there. I was upping the boost making a 3rd gear pull check the log then same psi but in 4th, make changes then up the boost ect...

Brian,
the lowest pull I had graphed was 18psi that made 415ish.. The break up, up top who knows what it was but it was very very quick and minor. The dyno guy did not even catch it. My log showed knock low and A/R's were fine. I was just wondering if the MSD's may be in my future.

I am very happy to break 500. I think thats a feat in its own.. Is it the best it can do? no. But for me its a great start..

You should be making a lot more power for the boost you are running. Was the dyno done in 3rd or 4th gear? Always tune in 4th, because if you tune in 3rd and then do a 4th gear pull you will run lean.

Yes, dyno was in 3rd. WB went bad so I did not make a 4th gear pull.

Same place we went last time. I know what you were thinking and I wish too that was on the Dyno Dynamics one. That would have put me in the 600's!! I may go there this week end if I get a few more things worked out. Mike

I'm curious about the #'s since most everyone usually uses Dynojets to "calibrate".
