I was looking at a nice white 1993 rx-7 r1 with a t-88 setup along with some other things and i had a few questions. the owner says it puts out around 512rwhp at 18psi. and around 400rwhp on 11.6psi and pump fuel. If i was to get this car and run it at low boost on pump fuel what would the reliability be like on it? Would something go wrong with it all the time? How much money would i have to invest to keep it running etc? This is directed at the guys who own big single turboed rx-7s and drive them regulary. If i got this car it would most likely be my daily driver and i want to know what kind of money i would be spending later on with repairs and stuff. I know rx-7s are known for overheating but this car seems to have everything needed to run this type of setup. My biggest concern is getting the car and then it falling apart all the time and sitting in my garage because i don't have enough money to pay for repairs. i'd appreciate any insight.

is this the white one that is on ebay with the mazdaspeed body kit?? Just wondering because if it is, that car also has a "bridge port" and that might come into play also as far as it being a daily driver. If this isn't the car you are talking about then cool, I am mistaken and sorry, but I just thought if we are talking about the same car, some info on the other mods done to the car would help..

The things you mentioned about being conerned with are mostly very exagerated. RX7's are not known for overheating. The thing is, if it does, your coolant seals will go and in about 10k miles you'll need a new engine. Unless you plan on road racing at Laguna Secca, then don't worry about it. A single turbo RX7 will be very reliable. In fact most ordinary mechanic's can actually work on the car because of no vacume lines nor selanoids to mess with. I recommend you buy the car. You'll love it.

Yes it is the white one. I was just curious about those types of car because i have no reall knowledge of a high horsepower car like that. what exactly is a bridge port? thanks i need all the information i can get. any other factors to consider? ya he wants like 28.8k for it? do you think its worth it if i changed some things around?

Sorry buddy I'd look in some other direction for a daily driver... a bridge ported t-88 charged car will have pretty bad lag for stop and go purposes and also bad fuel econ. You might also want to consider the reason that this car is being sold... unless this guy broke himself building it and can't pay rent (like me) there might be some other reason for the sale of this car besides the usual I'm tired of driving it. Also just a suggestion if you do get it never put less than pump gas with octane booster in it... expect to change the expensive racing spark plugs every 15(?)ish k miles. and well don't forget to put plenty of women in it when you drive around...

I wouldn't consider buying any 3rd gen RX-7 no matter what the condition or setup unless I had plenty of money to spend on regular maintenance. They can be surprisingly expensive just to keep running properly.

With a highly modified car it will be even more expensive. New spark plugs more often, more parts breaking regularly, possible engine failure much sooner, etc. I would plan on spending a few thousand every year just to keep it running well.
