Hell, I'd be happy with the opportunity just to chase you through the Dragon sometime!

But you have to promise that if you're too slow, you'll let me by.

Deal (though that would be kinda embarrassing).

Just waiting for Billy to send me a bill for the total for this thing so I can get it on order and get my car rolling again.

New Apex seals arrived today and are going in tomorrow.

I can't wait to get it back on the road and paint this ugly mess. Too bad it won't be done in time to go to the event at Pocono as I love that track.

Nice build! Where'd you get the belts in these pics? Any idea if they'd fit a 12a?

Update...

Those are just Pepboys premium belt. They were like $11 bucks a piece.

Unfortunately, that alternator crapped out on me--which is what I get for purchasing a rebuild on ebay. It came with a one year warranty and I sent it back, but I have not heard from the vendor. This is the second FD alternator that I purchased. Maybe the third time is the charm?

Apex seals are in the engine.

Racing Beat had to order the front pinion bearing from Mazda and it just came in today so the bearings, seals and ring and pinion will be shipping today.

Billy and Re-Speed got me a great price on the OSG differential. He will be sending me the total for the diff, the oil, and shipping today. I will be the test mule and if everything works out, he may start carying them.

So, I have to wait another week to get my car on the road, but it is coming together...

Am I the first?

I think I may have a first here people.

I just sent Billy the payment for the OS Giken differential. I do not know of any FB guys running these (or if they are running them, they are not saying so that they do not get points added when racing).

Anyway, my thanks to Billy for saving me around $100 on it as everything helps. Billy, as always is a stand-up guy and his products and service are highly recommended.

I'm excited as everything I read about them was good. Some FD guys on this forum claim it was the best mod they ever did to their car.

In addition, they are able to handle upwards of 700whp. Not that I will ever be pushing that, but when I upgrade my turbo, I should be in the mid 400s and it is one less thing to have to worry about/rebuild.

Burnt about half of my paint budget, but I can save that up in a month so it should work out for my bodywork to be done early August.

I will post pictures when I get everything!

No point in looking fast if the car blows something up every time. Coming along great.

Would you happen to have a part number for those belts?

I hope to pick up my car next weekend and then I can say for sure what the numbers are.

I simply waled up to the parts counter and said that I needed two belts for a TII and they handed them to me.

OS Giken LSD and flywheel and Ring and pinion

OS Giken unit came in finally as well as new 4.11 ring and pinion and new bearings.

I went up to KDR today to drop it off. Going in next week. Putting in a 12lb flywheel while everything is out.

Some pics of the parts:

It seems like a good viable (lighter/cheaper/less fabrication) option than a Ford rear.

That's the difference between a race car and a ricer.

No teenage girls?

Yeah, but it still hurts the wallet. Do you know how many non-functional rear wings, underbody glow kits, BOV "sound" setups, and fuzzy dice I could have bought for the +$2k that I have in the rear?

I could have had all of the teen girls checking out my rad ride as the local Sonic on a Friday night.

On a serious note, I could have purchased a nice set of CCW custom wheels for that. But, I guess moving forward is better than standing still on pretty wheels. Plus, my BBS RS wheels are just fine.

I really hope that Dave gets my engine installed this week like he promissed weeks ago. He had some health issues and was out of the shop. I have been told that I can pick it up this weekend and I can't wait to see what it can do and what it feels like.

Engine finally together.

Alright, the engine is finally back together at KDR. Dave installed new RA Superblack seals.

The PR rotary store who built the engine before I got it did some crazy large street pors that look like sh*t but sound great when running and give it a loopy idle.

Also, you can see the new ACT flywheel.

Those ports are horrendous. If I can tell, that's saying a lot considering I've never ported a thing. Any reason they weren't cleaned up a bit while the keg was open?

Nice to see your getting it back together.

Yes, they do look like crap. This is the second time it has been opened by Dave. The ports are so aggressive that they are very close to the water jackets and Dave does not want to hit them.

Besides, this setup is proven to work and actually causes my T04 spool up really fast so why mess with something that works just fine. Sure it look ugly, but it works--like lots of PR rotor jobs that I have seen.

It fits!

Good news, the OS Giken unit fits! I was afraid that it would not as it was non-refundable. Anyway, I will post results in a seperate thread once I get to really test it. This was the email I received for Dave today:

"HEy Mike...the new rear fits like a glove...gonna work sweet...old one was shot...see ya tomorrow..thanks..dave@KDR"

Picking my car up tomorrow. Will keep you updated.

Well, the car has been picked up. I took it for a paint quote on Monday so I'm waiting to hear back from that. I may end up going black as they do want to charge more for a color change. You know I will post pictures once the bodywork is completed.

The OS Giken unit feels great and is much better then the cars I have ridden in that had a KAAZ. It feels almost stock. The only non-stock feeling I had was when I got on the throttle on a sharp turn. I have not really been able to put it through its paces, as I'm currently breaking in the engine and can't rev past 4.5k. Even with that, the engine feels great--possibly partially due to the lightened flywheel. I will bring it back for tuning once the RA superblack seals are properly seated.

Dave ended up mounting the Accusump unit in the passanger footwell. Now there is about 20ft of SS oil line in my engine bay. Not exactly a descrete mounting, but it is functional and it is a great safeguard against blown engines so that I can take those corners with confidence. I will post pictures tonight.

I also had my HKS BOV installed and it is a huge improvement over the Turbo XS unit. I guess you get what you pay for.

This project is almost complete.

Pictures...

Still breaking in my engine. As promissed, here are some pictures along with my not-so-subtle Accusump.

I won't hurt your eyes with body work pictures until that is finished:

Once I finish the body work I will clean up the engine bay better.
