God I want the hover mod!

Build looks really good! I definitely want those kirkey seats. How high up do they feel with all the brackets and such?

The seats hover too! The good thing about them, is that you have to drill the holes for the brakets so you can adjust the height. They are slightly lower than the seats that I took out (at least the driver's is, I never sat in the other one).

Update: No update!

I went to go gheck on how things are going yesterday, and nothing has been done since I last went up there. Looks like there was an issue with the rear calipers and they had to be ordered. So my car was just sitting there doing nothing (besides wearing the ugliest XXR wheels that I have ever seen due to the 5-lug conversion and the new wheels/tires will not fit until they put the body on--so put the body on already!)

Still, Dave said it will be done (without paint) by this Friday. Current plan is to pick it up Friday. I will show up with my trailer as I told him I will hold him to it. I need to get to know the car before I take it on the track.

Speaking of track, I signed up for two all-day events at NJMP Lightning on the 29th and 30th. This is the club I run with: https://www.pdadrivingschool.com/index.php
I have only seen one other first gen out there so come on out!

I ordered new racing wheels from Diamond Racing 16x8" Pro series in powder coated black along with Toyo RA1 tires in 245/45 16. I'm really hopeing that:

a.) the car is done this week
b.) the wheels arrive on time as they are custom made
c.) the tires get here on time as they had to be ordered from Toyo

Wish me luck!

Did you order 8'' wheels all around? Or did you go with 10" in the back, since Diamond doesn't make 9".

8" all around. You do NOT want to run wider tires on the rear at the track as you will get understeer and ruin the balance of the car. 8" rears with 245 all around. You want to be able to rotate the rear through the corners--if not, why have RWD?

I put extra-long studs in the hubs, so I may run a 10mm spacer in the back to have a slightly wider track.

Hmmm, didn't think of that. If I'm just going to be driving my RX on the road, would 10" in the back be fine then, and how did you buy your wheels from Diamond? I'm kind of confused on how to send them the money since they don't accept paypal.

Credit card, money order/cashiers cheque. Call the guy, don't bother emailing him, I don't think he even checks his email.

Good news and Bad news

Good news first. My car is done, just needs paint. Will be dyno tuned tomorrow and hopefully i can post some numbers and take some pictures.

Bad news, the BBS RS do NOT work. The rears work with 20mm spacers but the fronts do not work to save their lives. The guy who sold them to me lied about the offset. I can change the barrels to change the offset, but that will run me about $500 a wheel just in parts. Um, I can practicly get CCW wheels for that. I love these:

http://www.ccwheel.com/files/wheelpr...ay.php?id=LM20

or these:

http://www.ccwheel.com/files/wheelpr...php?id=Classic

About twice what I want to spend. Frustrating because I cannot pick up my car because I have nothing to roll on

I will have to leave it there, get the paint taken care of, and find some other wheels. At least I have the Diamond Racing on order... I just hope they make it here on time.

TG I paid with Amex--dispute the damn charges as the seller is not getting back to me.

Any opinions on what I should get? I really do not what to spend that kind on money and I do not like the kodiac wheels.

2nd wheels are IMO better than the first. I hate universal wheels, the extra lugs you
don't use make it look tacky... like bullet hole stickers...

I like the LM20's. They'd look good.

Those are NOT universal wheels. All CCW wheels are custom made to your specs. What they have pictured are the race version of the wheel where they drill out all extra material to make it a little lighter. If you get the street version is does not have those holes.

That being said, these will be street wheels. DR are fine for the track and if you dent one, you replace it for $100. I am leaning towards the LM20s as they remind me of BBS LM wheels and are not as busy looking.

I may be able to modify the fronts to make them fit as they are 3 piece wheels. Well, I know I can modify them, the question is the cost. Anyone know where I can buy cheap BBS or BBS immitation barrels?

Yeah, I just called CCW and they said it would be 4+ weeks till they could get me the LM20s and I need to drive my car.

Your CCWs look amazing, but it is also hard for me to justify expensive street wheels when the car is intended to be primarily a race car.

Looks like I will have to get some custom 3" spacers made and call it a day

3"? I believe I have 2 - 2.5" spacers, really well made that I am not using if you think they may work?

Thanks Dan. 1" in the back works, but my fat ground control shocks in the front need 3". I almost abandoned these wheels all together and went with the CCW LM20. However, I cannot justify the cost. Maybe next year as I have spent too much damn money this year. Plus, they take over four weeks to make and I can't wait that long.

If I put the 3" spacers in the front and kept my 1" in the rear, the wheels would not be flush all around. 3" all around would totally fill the fenders and look better. The spacers cost $125 each, which I was not happy about but this guy goes good work and stands behind it (which you can't say about most ebay venders). Plus, he could make them the same day and ship them out Monday. I called a few places, and besides ebay venders, the price everyone had the same price. Here is where I got them from: http://www.wheeladapter.com/index.php

Here are some fitting pictures:

The rear wheels in this pictue have 1" spacers, so they will come out another 2" and be totally flush with the fenders.

I am really confuesed to what color to paint it. Should I go black or titanium grey (Spirit R 25G color).

I think it should be gray. There are a lot of black widebodies out there.

Go white with no spoiler, then throw some decals on, and it would look very good.
