^Yeah I plan on getting the temp sensor too. I want to stay on top of all the fluid temps. What temp is too low for oil btw? That is cool about taping them off, I wish I had that problem with the coolant, haha. I probably won't use those ducts either since I'll be running a different front end, OR I'll just keep them on there and duct from the front end to those ducts...just a thought.

you know i was just thinking. you can't mess with money...lol i think where i made the mistake is cheaping out on the last 10% like dual oil coolers, and things of that sort.

when are we gonna start on the engine rebuild Eric??

^What do you mean you can't mess with money? You're not going to change jobs? Were you planning on staying with Verizon, just seeing if you can change jobs within the company?

That's why I'm buying up all this stuff to give the engine the best chance of survival. Dual oil coolers, V-mount, dual fuel filters, big enough injectors, water injection (which my main reason for is actually reliability, not so much power), switching out to a vented hood...I want that engine bay to be freezing cold, haha. I'm just worried about how I'm going to run the air filter now, since the intercooler will be pretty much right in front of the turbo inlet. I'm hoping to get those RE Amemiya lights with the ducts and run the one on the passenger side directly to the turbo, but leave a little space right in front of the turbo or right behind the light, that way if something blocks the duct hole on the light it can still draw air from somewhere else. But those lights are $1400 a set (I sure hope not each!), so it'll be a while to say the least. I'm putting alot of thought into this though. I don't know if you all know this, but I'm building what I consider to be my ultimate FD/car, within financial limitations of course. I don't think I'd even trade this car for a Lambo or Ferrari, etc. if given the chance, I love it that much.

As far as the engine rebuild...I'd like to talk to Bruce about a couple things like coolant passage porting and other general rebuild mods, and get everything clearanced and I'm thinking about the Cermet B coating for the housings. I want to read up on dowel pinning it too, I'm not sure what exactly that's for and how it works, but rest assured I will know soon, haha. And I'm probably going to go with the RA 2mm classic seals or super seals, but I've heard the OEM Mazda seals are really good too. Were you planning on helping me with the rebuild too or what? I noticed you said "we", haha.

I was also wondering if cryo treating the engine parts would help it at all, to make it more durable.

Here's a link to a good story, it was posted on the MSCCNC site too...

lol no i am changing jobs out of verizon. what i meant, and should have said was damn making a reliable FD costs a lot of money, and i feel like maybe i cheaped out too soon. you are doing it the right way, and going all out, which is smart, but also expensive.

i don't want to make too many promises, but if i get this new job, i will know in a few weeks, i want to help you build your 7. ii agree that you are building the ultimate rx7, you are getting your parts before your engine blows, that way you will have all the stuff. i was in a hurry to get it back together, trying to make deals gap(which i didn't anyways). i should have probably taken an extra 6 months with mine, but then again i had NOTHING when she blew. you are gonna have most of the peripheral stuff straight. anyhow the upshot is i want to be a part of such a nice project, that way when you are in a magazine you can give a shout out.

Yeah it definitely costs alot of money, but I knew that going in so I can't blame anyone but myself, lol. But I also wouldn't change a thing. The only difference in what I'm doing and what I was GOING to do is getting the engine/turbo stuff first, instead of waiting like I am now. But when deals on parts come up, I just can't pass. You don't have to make promises. Like I said, I don't expect you to help me at all, but all your help so far and the offer for help in the future is greatly appreciated. I consider it an honor that you want to help out and be a part of it, so you're more than welcome. It just sucks that I'm about an hour and a half away. I'd like to have it all finished by next April, but I just have a feeling that's not gonna happen. I'll be lucky if I can get enough money to finish all the parts of the project for one thing. I'll be happy enough if I can just get the suspension, brakes, and wheel parts finished and get all my boost back. Besides, if I got the new engine in I'd need time to break it in first anyway. I'm really concerned right now with the prospect of getting orders out of here. I want to at least finish this project before I leave NC. The only reason I don't want to leave NC is because of you guys, the RRDI group is the best group of friends I've had in years. Where else can you go where your car breaks down and you barely get to touch it cause everyone else is knee-deep in it? Not to mention buying the parts too? Haha. It's hard for me to believe that you rushed your car at all. I always thought it looked really good, not rushed at all. It's in excellent condition and I'd like to have mine up to that status someday soon. I wasn't actually going to try to get in a magazine, but I may have to now just so I can give you a shout out

Eric, I see you posted about a fender roller on the othe site, Phil (herblenny) was going to let me use his but he'd have to send it up here. Lets stay in touch and if I get one Ill let you know and you do the same. Keep me informed on what kind of single kit you get ,If I ever start my REW project in Tiffany Ill need a good fast spoolin turbo. Id be happy with anything over 400 RWHP.... Maybe 450...... wtf I'm sure it won't be enough. whatever it is.

IIRC, 180 deg F is about as low as you want. Oil temps too low will cause sludge. The best thing would be install an oil temp guage first and determine your needs. Generally speaking for hard use like on a track, the stock dual with the ducting will work if refreshed with upto 300hp, and a a twin 20-23 row after-market set-up with ducting is well regarded. Rynberg has repeatedly said that a 25-row will work without ducting and might be what higher hp folks should consider if they have track aspirations.

Johny- I was reading up on the T78 too, but I've been told to stick with the GT35R. It's said to spool around 3500 and make around 400-425 at least at 15psi. It's basically the same thing Josh was running I believe. I'll keep my eyes open for a fender roller but so far I haven't had any luck. I posted it on this forum a few months ago.

Matt- Thanks for the info. So maybe I won't have to duct it so much. I'll hook up a sensor now but my single cooler now is so messed up it's probably not cooling ANYTHING. That thread is actually the one I was reading about. Thanks for the link though, I don't think I saved it.

Josh- It depends on if I get the orders due to the base closure or just regular way. I would probably only get orders the regular way if I put in for them. As far as the base closure way, I'd probably have another year or so, but it's hard telling cause we have alot of people getting orders now. I'm hoping I have at least a couple years left here, that way I can get all this finished and enjoy it at the Gap and with you all.

At the bottom of this link have something similar to you're looking with RE Amemiya but at MUCH cheaper price

If you got the V-mount IC, you shouldn't have to worry much about air flow to the radiator or air intake. In matter fact, unless you track your car, FMIC probably is ok for street driving as long as you keep your undertray and program the fan to come on sooner then stock setting.

^Yeah I already have the V-mount, just sitting here awaiting install. I'm worried partly about how to fit a filter on there. The Feed cover would be cool too.

The next RRDI will be the second Saturday at the same location off of Strickland Road in Raleigh. Not eveyone will be making the trip up to VIR so there will be a gathering of the rotary brotherhood as usual.

HAH! He showed up late because of work but we let him run across the street and get some BoJ. We took him to Frankies and "made him" run the slick track with us 4 times. I think he had some fun.

BTW guys there are still tickets left for the VIR RBQ next Saturday. 15 bucks gets you into the track Saturday and Sunday, food and fun. More bucks gets you a shirt, raffle etc... We're looking at maybe being able to do our own parade laps with some extra time. Ayways, if you can this will be a lot of fun. Some of us are going up early Saturday morning, real early. Fllow the link, join in! http://msccnc.org/

Yeah Nic, it was a great time. I forgot to get the tickets while I was there though, haha.

Greg, that track was great! DORIFTO!!!! Haha. Except for that ******* that about got stomped into the ground for continually bumping us, lol. That still pisses me off.

Well I left Ashraf's at about 3am. We got 5psi out of it now, but it whistles under boost and I think that's coming from the hole in the tube just behind the gauge. The coupling going from the turbos to the intercooler piping was blown (which I think can be seen without taking anything apart but we didn't catch it right away), and there was a vacuum line under the UIM that was broken but he said that's for idle. He also said there are two vacuum lines going from actuators to the turbos(?) that have restrictor pills in them that if I replaced those vacuum lines and didn't put the pills in would only give me 7psi. So I'm taking off the airbox today and checking that out, but only after fixing the tube going to the gauge.

Oh Greg, I'm game for going up early. Just let me know when and where to meet. Are we still planning on meeting at the Char-Grill?

Yeah that **** was totally uncalled for by those asshats. I thought I was going to be sore from one guy that nailed me twice t-bone style for no ******* reason other than being an idiot. I wish the guys running it would have yanked several of them off the track. We'll just have to bring more people next time! I still had fun though, glad you made it!

Was way cool of Ashraf to let you come over and do that. Glad he was able to find some of those gremlins, might make finding the others easier! Notice any difference on the ride home last night boost/power wise with the changes made?

I'd like to get up there early, but 11:00 am at the latest. Might get to do two sets of parade laps! Anyway, maybe we could all meet somewhere for breakfast then head up there. We'll just have to see how it pans out the next few days. Worse case, I'm on the road at 9:00am on the way up there!

Like I told Eric I want to be up there at 11am at the latest. Maybe everyone should meet at the Crack Head Barrel like we've done in the past, get breakfast, gas and then ride? Figure 1 1/2 hour trip there so maybe meet at 8:30 to eat? I'm gonna check with some of the guys from the MSCCNC and see when and where they're doing that morning. Might eat, follow them for more backroad fun or something. I'll keep you guys posted up
